Why Mini SPY is my Favourite ETF
$SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF(SPLG)$
I discovered SPLG when I was looking to invest in $S&P500 ETF(SPY)$. Both ETFs track the S&P500 Index which comprises of 500 large and mid cap US companies.
Both ETFs are managed by the State Street Global Advisors. Mini SPY or SPLG is a cheaper modernised S&P500 alternative to SPY. It is a great way for long term investors like me to invest in the S&P500.
SPLG was started in 8 November 2005. Assets Under Management is USD13. 63 Billion.
Top 10 holdings include Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla, Alphabet, META Platforms, Nvidia, Berkshire Hathaway and JP Morgan.
Top 10 weightage is 29%.
Performance at 1 year is 23% increase.
SPLG also pays quarterly dividends. The yield is 1.27%.
Best of all the expense ratio of SPLG is only 0.03% compared to SPY at 0.09%.
Last closing price today SPLG at 55.41, SPY at 471.02.
$SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF(SPLG)$ is great ETF as it is diversified and low cost in comparison to $S&P500 ETF(SPY)$ . In volatile times like now, it minimises risk and gives me peace of mind. I do not have to worry about the extreme drop in share price that I can experience in individual stocks nor bankruptcy. Best of all I know that SPLG will increase in value long term.
Go Long, Go Strong, Go SPLG! That's my maxim!
