If you had bought $1,000 worth of Apple stock when the iPad launched in 2010, you would be sitting on $20,230 today. And that's after a 15% stock price dip last year.

While Apple still has many opportunities ahead, with new products and a growing installed base of devices, the company posted a decline in revenue in the quarter that ended in December. This performance might have some investors wondering if one of the world's top brands is truly a safe stock to hold if the economy dips into a recession, as some experts are predicting.

However, there are more reasons to consider buying Apple stock this year than avoiding it.

The value of Apple's diversified product lineup

The possibility of a recession seems like a problem for the sales of expensive tech products. A recession would likely hurt Apple since the iPhone makes up about half of its annual revenue. Macroeconomic headwinds played a key role in sending iPhone revenue down 8% year over year in the fiscal first quarter.

Management attributed the decline in iPhone sales to foreign currency fluctuations, supply constraints, and macroeconomic headwinds like inflation. Excluding foreign currency, iPhone revenue would have been flat versus the year-ago period.

But in a quarter where iPhone struggled, other categories did well. iPad revenue grew 29% year over year, making up 8% of Apple's sales. Services, including app sales and subscriptions, increased 6% year over year, accounting for 18% of total revenue.

The beauty of Apple's business is that it has a dedicated customer base that loves their iPhones. The tech giant created a seamless integration of hardware and software that leads to consistently high customer satisfaction. Apple's iCloud keeps the apps running on Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watch all in sync, which has been a key incentive for customers to buy at least two devices, leading to a diversified revenue stream.

Apple now has a massive installed base of over 2 billion devices, which is double the level from seven years ago. This sets up the company with a few growth catalysts in 2023.

Growth catalysts are forming for Apple

After years of speculation and rumors, Apple is finally expected to unveil its mixed-reality headset this year, featuring virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology. Bloomberg reported in February that the company postponed the announcement until June at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference.

One reason this is big news is that Apple's customer base is likely much larger today than when the company's last new product, Apple Watch, launched eight years ago. This means a novel product launch might have more impact on revenue than previous product releases.

Still, a successful debut will depend on the quality of the software and ease of using it, not to mention the price. But Apple's focus on hardware and software design could make its rumored headset a breakthrough AR/VR product.

Excluding the possibility of a new product launch, the company's expanding installed base is a good enough reason to consider holding the stock. The growth in higher-margin services revenue is gradually becoming a greater contributor to the top line. Over time, this will help smooth out the occasional dips in revenue from Apple's hardware products, giving it a better recurring revenue stream besides relying on iPhone upgrades.

Apple stock is a buy

Apple has a fortress-like balance sheet, with $64 billion of net cash. It also generates around $100 billion in free cash flow every year, so it has plenty of resources to fund growth initiatives and pay dividends to shareholders.

Looking at valuation, Apple's price-to-earnings ratio of 25 based on this year's earnings estimates is not cheap, but it is fair compared to the shares' recent trading history and other blue chip stocks. Overall, I wouldn't want to sell Apple stock considering the upcoming catalysts that may not be fully captured in its valuation.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; If you had bought $1,000 worth of Apple stock when the iPad launched in 2010, you would be sitting on $20,230 today. However, there are more reasons to consider buying Apple stock this year than avoiding it.The value of Apple's diversified product lineupThe possibility of a recession seems like a problem for the sales of expensive tech products. A recession would likely hurt Apple since the iPhone makes up about half of its annual revenue. Macroeconomic headwinds played a key role in sending iPhone revenue down 8% year over year in the fiscal first quarter.Management attributed the decline in iPhone sales to foreign currency fluctuations, supply constraints, and macroeconomic headwinds like inflation. Apple's iCloud keeps the apps running on Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watch all in sync, which has been a key incentive for customers to buy at least two devices, leading to a diversified revenue stream.Apple now has a massive installed base of over 2 billion devices, which is double the level from seven years ago. This sets up the company with a few growth catalysts in 2023.Growth catalysts are forming for AppleAfter years of speculation and rumors, Apple is finally expected to unveil its mixed-reality headset this year, featuring virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology. Bloomberg reported in February that the company postponed the announcement until June at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. One reason this is big news is that Apple's customer base is likely much larger today than when the company's last new product, Apple Watch, launched eight years ago. This means a novel product launch might have more impact on revenue than previous product releases.Still, a successful debut will depend on the quality of the software and ease of using it, not to mention the price. But Apple's focus on hardware and software design could make its rumored headset a breakthrough AR/VR product.Excluding the possibility of a new product launch, the company's expanding installed base is a good enough reason to consider holding the stock. The growth in higher-margin services revenue is gradually becoming a greater contributor to the top line. Over time, this will help smooth out the occasional dips in revenue from Apple's hardware products, giving it a better recurring revenue stream besides relying on iPhone upgrades.Apple stock is a buyApple has a fortress-like balance sheet, with $64 billion of net cash. It also generates around $100 billion in free cash flow every year, so it has plenty of resources to fund growth initiatives and pay dividends to shareholders.Looking at valuation, Apple's price-to-earnings ratio of 25 based on this year's earnings estimates is not cheap, but it is fair compared to the shares' recent trading history and other blue chip stocks. Overall, I wouldn't want to sell Apple stock considering the upcoming catalysts that may not be fully captured in its valuation.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":479,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9940448603,"gmtCreate":1678144625403,"gmtModify":1678144629682,"author":{"id":"3560241002253187","authorId":"3560241002253187","name":"CL777","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e9aef3dd830373a0427a3447b1b564e3","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3560241002253187","idStr":"3560241002253187"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"All 3 are good","listText":"All 3 are good","text":"All 3 are good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9940448603","repostId":"2317812168","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2317812168","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1678203978,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2317812168?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2023-03-07 23:46","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nasdaq Bear Market: 3 Unstoppable Stocks Still Down 37% or More That You'll Regret Not Buying on the Dip","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2317812168","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These tech giants won't stay beaten down forever.","content":"

There's been plenty of speculation that a new bull market could be on the way. The Nasdaq Composite Index came tantalizingly close to reaching bull market levels only a few weeks ago.

For now, though, we're still entrenched in a Nasdaq bear market. But the good news for investors is that there are quite a few great stocks to buy at discounted prices. Here are three unstoppable stocks still down 38% or more to buy on the dip.

1. Alphabet

Alphabet is the least beaten-down of these three stocks. However, shares of the tech giant are still down more than 37% from the high set in late 2021.

One reason behind Alphabet's steep decline is that the advertising market has slowed down considerably. The company generates most of its revenue from advertising on its various platforms, including Google Search and YouTube. Alphabet stock has also taken a hit recently because of concerns that it could be hurt by OpenAI's ChatGPT and Microsoft's integration of the chatbot with its Bing search engine.

I'm not worried about either of these factors. The advertising slowdown will only be temporary. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft actually sets up Alphabet for a huge win once Google launches its Bard generative AI app. Even if not, my view is that the doom-and-gloom predictions about ChatGPT's impact on Google Search's business are way overblown.

Alphabet should continue to make a lot of money with its search apps. Its Google Cloud business has a huge growth runway. The company's Waymo self-driving car unit could become a major growth driver over the next decade. Alphabet also has a massive opportunity in quantum computing. This stock won't remain this cheap for too much longer.

2. Amazon

Another FAANG stock has been hit even harder than Alphabet. Amazon's share price is roughly 49% below its previous peak reached in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Macroeconomic headwinds have weighed heavily on the stock. High inflation has caused consumers and companies to watch their spending more closely. It has also contributed to the strong U.S. dollar, which creates unfavorable foreign exchange rates for companies such as Amazon with significant international sales.

These issues could continue to plague Amazon over the short term. Inflation remains stubbornly high. The Federal Reserve's efforts to fight inflation by raising interest rates could even lead to a recession. However, inflation will decline and the macroeconomic headwinds subside sooner or later. Amazon's financial position is certainly strong enough to weather the storm.

More importantly, the company's long-term prospects are bright. E-commerce still has plenty of room to grow. Amazon Web Services could realistically generate more revenue within the next 10 to 15 years than Amazon's entire business does today. Amazon also has tremendous potential in digital advertising, healthcare, and other new markets. I think right now could be a once-in-a-generation buying opportunity with Amazon stock.

3. Adobe

Like Amazon, Adobe has seen its share price plunge close to 50% since Q4 of 2021. Also like Amazon, the big software company seems to have lost its recent momentum after beginning a solid rebound.

Overall economic uncertainty has definitely played a major role in Adobe's dismal stock performance. In September 2022, the company announced plans to acquire collaborative design platform Figma for $20 billion. Investors felt the price tag for the deal was too high, causing Adobe's shares to sink further.

But the stock nosedived yet again just a few days ago on news that regulators oppose Adobe's acquisition of Figma. Adobe almost seems to be in a no-win scenario where investors hate it if it buys Figma but also hate it if the deal falls through.

I think all of this is simply noise. Adobe's business remains strong. It has great opportunities in extending the AI capabilities of its Creative Cloud platform. Every time in the past when Adobe's shares have fallen as much as they have over the last year or so, the stock has roared back. I expect that history will repeat itself.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Nasdaq Bear Market: 3 Unstoppable Stocks Still Down 37% or More That You'll Regret Not Buying on the Dip
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nNasdaq Bear Market: 3 Unstoppable Stocks Still Down 37% or More That You'll Regret Not Buying on the Dip\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2023-03-07 23:46 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
There's been plenty of speculation that a new bull market could be on the way. beaten-down fintech stocks have what it takes to post strong recoveries.","content":"

While macroeconomic conditions have depressed valuations for stocks across the market, companies operating in the fintech space have been among the hardest-hit. Investors have become more risk-averse and less willing to back companies with forward-looking valuations. And the combination of high inflation, rising interest rates, and weakness on some economic fronts has created business-level challenges for many fintech players.

But there's a silver lining. For long-term investors, stark bearish trends have actually created opportunities to buy some stocks with incredible rebound potential at fantastic prices. With that in mind, here are two beaten-down fintech stocks that Motley Fool contributors have identified as top recovery plays.

PayPal is a bargain after its fall from grace

Parkev Tatevosian: PayPal's stock is down 75.8% off its highs of the last few years. The fintech stock thrived during the earlier stages of the pandemic as folks were spending more time and money online.

Why was that good for PayPal? The company makes it more convenient for people to shop online: It lets you store your payment information and then use your PayPal login and password or Face ID to shop at various online sites. That removes a pain point for some people, including me, who prefer not to enter their payment information on each new website.

To understand the magnitude of consumer appreciation, you can look at PayPal's revenue growth. Between 2017 and 2022, PayPal's sales jumped from $13 billion to $27.5 billion. More impressively, that boosted PayPal's operating income from $2.26 billion to $4 billion over that same period.

The most challenging part of PayPal is arguably in the past. Building a network of merchants willing to accept PayPal as a payment method is costly and time-consuming. However, now that the significant part of that expansion is behind it, investors are starting to see profitability expanding.

While it might take a considerable time for Paypal's stock price to reach and eclipse its previous high, the company offers investors an excellent risk-return trade-off at its current price. Indeed, at a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 15.29, PayPal's stock is a bargain.

StoneCo has incredible rebound potential

Keith Noonan: StoneCo (STNE) is one of Brazil's leading payment processors for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The company has continued to onboard new merchant partners, increase total payment volume conducted through its platform, and grow revenue at encouraging rates. But there's a big catch that has resulted in its valuation being crushed: The fintech also started offering loans for SMBs, and results on that front have been disastrous.

Not only were some economic headwinds impacting the Brazilian market, but StoneCo was also relying on the country's national registry system to determine whether applicants were creditworthy. Unfortunately, Brazil's national registry proved to have major flaws, and the company wound up relying on underwriting standards that led to lots of bad debt in its loan portfolio. Most of those loans have now been discharged or sold off to third parties at basement-level prices, but the company still has roughly $91.5 million in bad loans on its books.

Amid these challenges and the broader valuation pullback for growth stocks, StoneCo stock trades down roughly 90% from its high.

The remaining bad loans will likely have to be written off and, admittedly, put a dent in StoneCo's near-term financial outlook, but the situation should also be viewed in context. With a market cap of roughly $2.9 billion, losing that money isn't going to break the company, and the business generated roughly $31.4 million in non-GAAP (adjusted) net income in its last reported quarter.

Crucially, the company's payment-processing business continues to look quite strong. StoneCo managed to add 248,000 net new merchant partners in the third quarter, overall revenue rose 71% year over year, and adjusted net income was up 90.5% from the previous year's quarter.

STNE PE Ratio (Forward) data by YCharts.

With the business still growing rapidly and an end to financial challenges posed by the credit business now in sight, StoneCo looks attractively valued, trading at roughly 15.7 times this year's expected earnings and 1.3 times expected sales. Potential turbulence for the Brazilian economy in the near term means there are still risk factors on the table, but StoneCo's core business looks fairly solid, and the stock is priced at levels that leave room for explosive upside.

These stocks could surge as pressures on fintechs ease

Fintech companies have faced a barrage of unfavorable macroeconomic conditions recently, but the stage is set for many companies in the space to see valuation recovery as these pressures begin to dissipate. With their beaten-down valuations and encouraging prospects for long-term growth, PayPal and StoneCo look like bargains. Investors who take buy-and-hold approaches with the stocks at today's prices could wind up seeing very strong returns.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
2 Stocks Down More than 75% to Buy Right Now
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n2 Stocks Down More than 75% to Buy Right Now\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2023-02-24 14:46 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
While macroeconomic conditions have depressed valuations for stocks across the market, companies operating in the fintech space have been among the hardest-hit. The Nasdaq Composite declined 0.9%. All three finished near their lows of the day.
\n
Fed governors have been dropping hints in recent weeks that the beginning of the end of the central bank’s bond buying was nearing, and the minutes confirmed that taperingis at hand. “Most participants noted that …it could be appropriate to start reducing the pace of asset purchases this year,” the minutes read.
\n
The assessment comes as the economy has recovered quickly, and reflects that the Fed is now focused on when—and how quickly—to remove support from the economy.
\n
The selloff was broad. About 83% of S&P 500 stocks fell on the day, according to FactSet. Morgan and BofA Securities are the lead underwriters for the offering.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":282,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3582520228861009","authorId":"3582520228861009","name":"CPCat","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3bafaf3d39abfb78a4bedf785310721a","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"idStr":"3582520228861009","authorIdStr":"3582520228861009"},"content":"yea... hope this is a good challenger","text":"yea... hope this is a good challenger","html":"yea... hope this is a good challenger"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":838277711,"gmtCreate":1629417042633,"gmtModify":1676530031767,"author":{"id":"3560241002253187","authorId":"3560241002253187","name":"CL777","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e9aef3dd830373a0427a3447b1b564e3","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560241002253187","authorIdStr":"3560241002253187"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Amazing amazon!","listText":"Amazing amazon!","text":"Amazing amazon!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":11,"commentSize":7,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/838277711","repostId":"1147944508","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":241,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":378512721,"gmtCreate":1619050389463,"gmtModify":1704718768541,"author":{"id":"3560241002253187","authorId":"3560241002253187","name":"CL777","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e9aef3dd830373a0427a3447b1b564e3","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560241002253187","authorIdStr":"3560241002253187"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Amazing ","listText":"Amazing ","text":"Amazing","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":2,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":10,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/378512721","repostId":"2129805442","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":220,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3574858489690346","authorId":"3574858489690346","name":"Jaya76","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3574858489690346","authorIdStr":"3574858489690346"},"content":"yes it is","text":"yes it is","html":"yes it is"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":348629921,"gmtCreate":1617927169963,"gmtModify":1704704847811,"author":{"id":"3560241002253187","authorId":"3560241002253187","name":"CL777","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e9aef3dd830373a0427a3447b1b564e3","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560241002253187","authorIdStr":"3560241002253187"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"More to come for Amzn and Appl","listText":"More to come for Amzn and Appl","text":"More to come for Amzn and Appl","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":9,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/348629921","repostId":"2126274701","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":538,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3570923041276809","authorId":"3570923041276809","name":"potatochip","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/279b09d8c5dbf0fd92a959709ef9b5ff","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3570923041276809","authorIdStr":"3570923041276809"},"content":"Yay to hitting new high soon!","text":"Yay to hitting new high soon!","html":"Yay to hitting new high soon!"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":126593470,"gmtCreate":1624577950390,"gmtModify":1703840631108,"author":{"id":"3560241002253187","authorId":"3560241002253187","name":"CL777","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e9aef3dd830373a0427a3447b1b564e3","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560241002253187","authorIdStr":"3560241002253187"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":9,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/126593470","repostId":"2146023477","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":241,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":165241915,"gmtCreate":1624148921137,"gmtModify":1703829349900,"author":{"id":"3560241002253187","authorId":"3560241002253187","name":"CL777","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e9aef3dd830373a0427a3447b1b564e3","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560241002253187","authorIdStr":"3560241002253187"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Let’s see if he is right next week. The other still thinks that AAPL shares could drop 40%. Is the sizable downside risk realistic?
\n
On the first day of September, one of the rare Wall Street bears on Apple stock (AAPL) finally gave in and dropped his sell rating. The last remaining one still sees shares dropping to a price target of $90, representing risk of loss of around 40%.
\n
Could New Street’s Pierre Ferragu, the last remaining Apple bear on Wall Street, be right about his downside call? The Apple Maven looks a bit closer at the argument.
\n
Why bearish on Apple?
\n
The core of Pierre’s bearish argument seems to be the iPhone. The analyst has called the upcoming device launch a “12S cycle”, arguing that the best of Apple’s iPhone upgrade wave, the so-called 5G super cycle, has been left in the rearview mirror.
\n
New Street subscribes to the view that the strong iPhone 12 cycle has pulled forward smartphone sales, leaving a gap in demand going forward. Interestingly, this is exactly the opposite opinion of bullish Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, who said the following during an interview with the Apple Maven:
\n
\n “What the Street underestimates is how massive and elongated this super cycle is. […] 5G does not get fully embraced for the next two or three years, until the networks are built out. In China [where the 5G infrastructure is further ahead], the iPhone 12, especially the larger Pro versions, really sold extremely well.”\n
\n
Still on the iPhone, Mr. Ferragu laid out his expectations for 2022 back in April (I am unaware of revisions since then). He believes that iPhone shipments will reach 190 million units, suggesting segment revenues of around $150 billion – a modest annual increase of 5% from COVID-19 levels.
\n
Could AAPL sink 40%?
\n
Now, let’s put pen to paper. For Apple stock to be valued at $90 apiece, one of two things would need to happen: either financial performance would need to lag consensus expectations, or valuations would need to contract (or a combination of both).
\n
On results,Wall Street currently sees fiscal 2022 EPS landing at $5.63, roughly flat against a 2021 that has been impressive so far. For AAPL to drop 40% in price, therefore, next-year earnings would need to miss consensus substantially, by at least a couple of dollars. I find this highly unlikely.
\n
On valuations, AAPL currently trades at a fiscal 2021 earnings multiple of 27 times. The other still thinks that AAPL shares could drop 40%. Is the sizable downside risk realistic?\nOn the first day of September, one of the rare Wall Street bears on Apple stock (AAPL) finally gave in and dropped his sell rating. The last remaining one still sees shares dropping to a price target of $90, representing risk of loss of around 40%.\nCould New Street’s Pierre Ferragu, the last remaining Apple bear on Wall Street, be right about his downside call? The Apple Maven looks a bit closer at the argument.\nWhy bearish on Apple?\nThe core of Pierre’s bearish argument seems to be the iPhone. The analyst has called the upcoming device launch a “12S cycle”, arguing that the best of Apple’s iPhone upgrade wave, the so-called 5G super cycle, has been left in the rearview mirror.\nNew Street subscribes to the view that the strong iPhone 12 cycle has pulled forward smartphone sales, leaving a gap in demand going forward. Interestingly, this is exactly the opposite opinion of bullish Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, who said the following during an interview with the Apple Maven:\n\n “What the Street underestimates is how massive and elongated this super cycle is. […] 5G does not get fully embraced for the next two or three years, until the networks are built out. In China [where the 5G infrastructure is further ahead], the iPhone 12, especially the larger Pro versions, really sold extremely well.”\n\nStill on the iPhone, Mr. Ferragu laid out his expectations for 2022 back in April (I am unaware of revisions since then). He believes that iPhone shipments will reach 190 million units, suggesting segment revenues of around $150 billion – a modest annual increase of 5% from COVID-19 levels.\nCould AAPL sink 40%?\nNow, let’s put pen to paper. For Apple stock to be valued at $90 apiece, one of two things would need to happen: either financial performance would need to lag consensus expectations, or valuations would need to contract (or a combination of both).\nOn results,Wall Street currently sees fiscal 2022 EPS landing at $5.63, roughly flat against a 2021 that has been impressive so far. For AAPL to drop 40% in price, therefore, next-year earnings would need to miss consensus substantially, by at least a couple of dollars. I find this highly unlikely.\nOn valuations, AAPL currently trades at a fiscal 2021 earnings multiple of 27 times. Assuming consensus-matching results in the future, this multiple would need to drop to about 16 times for AAPL shares to sink to $90. The stock’s forward P/E has not been this low in years.\nThe Apple Maven’s take\nI find it very improbable, if not virtually impossible, for Apple to ever be valued at $90 per share again. It is much more reasonable, in my opinion, that New Street’s current price target on the stock is simply stale, following AAPL’s 25% rally in the past six months.\nTherefore, I would not be surprised to see Wall Street’s last AAPL bear eventually (soon?) give in on his downside convictions, at least in what pertains to his current price target.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":311,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3572923586954779","authorId":"3572923586954779","name":"LimLS","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/217b03b0c4808fb537070ba4e8f9d83f","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":1,"idStr":"3572923586954779","authorIdStr":"3572923586954779"},"content":"it will be a steal at $120.
