In his departure message, he offered advice on how Masayoshi Son's conglomerate could strengthen its operations.
\n
Three years later, a rejuvenated SoftBank Group Corp is showing support for Gelsinger by investing $2 billion in Intel. Gelsinger has now become CEO of the legendary American company and is working to turn around the troubled chipmaker.
\n
Gelsinger took over as Intel CEO in March of this year and is currently driving a corporate restructuring. Previously, Intel had been outpaced by Nvidia in the artificial intelligence chip sector, and its foundry business has also been struggling.
\n
New Street Research analyst Stacy Rasgon stated: \"This is essentially Masayoshi Son's confidence vote in Intel's turnaround prospects over the coming years.\"
\n
\"For Intel, this investment means SoftBank Group Corp is more likely to become a potential customer in the future.\"
\n
The two men have a long history of collaboration.
\n
Gelsinger said in a statement: \"I have worked closely with Masayoshi Son for decades and appreciate his vote of confidence in Intel through this investment.\"
\n
Beyond his tenure on SoftBank Group Corp's board, Gelsinger also served as chairman of chip startup SambaNova, which received backing from SoftBank Vision Fund.
\n
In his statement upon leaving SoftBank Group Corp's board, Gelsinger wrote: \"Masayoshi Son is brilliant and visionary. But he still needs someone to provide safeguards and advice to make him more successful.\"
\n
The 68-year-old Son is known as a shrewd political operator who made two public appearances with U.S. President Donald Trump in the months following the presidential election.
\n
He maintains close relationships with top tech entrepreneurs, such as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, in which SoftBank Group Corp holds shares.
\n
Last week, the 65-year-old Gelsinger met with Trump. (RIVN) saw its stock plummet by 5.06% in intraday trading on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025. Despite the significant drop, one Wall Street analyst remained resolutely bearish on the electric vehicle (EV) maker.
\n\n
Garrett Nelson, an analyst at CFRA, raised his price target for Rivian by 60% to $8 per share but maintained his \"sell\" recommendation. Even with the increased target, Nelson's valuation suggests a potential downside of 51% from the current stock price. It has accepted an offer from JTC Corporation for a property with a 30-year lease term within the Jurong Innovation District to operate the hub. Prior to the news, Sats shares ended Friday at S$3.92, up S$0.02 or 0.5 per cent.Cromwell European Reit (Cromwell E-Reit): Its manager said in an exchange filing on Monday that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has no direct impact on the real estate investment trust's (Reit's) European portfolio, as more than 85 per cent of its properties are located in Western Europe. It also foresees limited immediate impact on business operations, as current rising energy prices and the ongoing refugee crisis is not expected to disrupt rent collection. The Reit's units closed Friday up 2.3 per cent or S$0.05 at S$2.24.Silverlake Axis: (5CP) The fintech company on Monday said it is offering to buy back up to 242.4 million shares - representing around 9.1 per cent of the total number of shares in issue - at S$0.33 each in cash, as part of an off-market equal access offer. Shares of Silverlake Axis closed up S$0.005 or 1.8 per cent at S$0.28 on Friday.Kimly Limited: (1D0) The group and its convicted consultants have mutually decided not to carry on with the recent engagement of the duo, said the Catalist-listed operator of coffeeshops in a regulatory statement furnished on Saturday. This follows feedback and concerns from Kimly's stakeholders after the consultants were convicted of and fined for breaching the Securities and Futures Act in mid-February. Shares of Kimly ended unchanged on Friday at S$0.385.Hatten Land: (PH0) Borrowings of RM206 million (S$66.4 million) due in a year could be repaid as the company's unsold, completed properties have \"substantial value\", stated the Catalist-listed group on Friday (Mar 11) in response to queries from the Singapore Exchange (SGX). Hatten Land also assured SGX that its non-current trade receivables do not have material concentration risk from a particular debtor as many individual property buyers are involved. The firm purportedly sold over $30 million worth of two types of tokens that the SEC deemed to be securities that should have been registered as such.\nThe SEC notes that Blockchain Credit Partners founders Gregory Keough and Derek Acree will have to pay fines of $125,000 while the company itself also agreed to pay $12.8 million in disgorgement. The settlement does not indicate an admition or denial the accusations.\nNew Game, Old Rules?\nSEC Enforcement Director Gurbir Grewal explained that \"full and honest disclosure remains the cornerstone of our securities laws — no matter what technologies are used to offer and sell those securities.\" This comment makes it very clear that slapping the DeFi label on a project and hoping to avoid regulation this way works no better than calling it a \"utility token\" prevented falling under the SEC's scrutiny during 2017's initial coin offering craze.\nThe SEC is trying to send the clear rule that the new kind of financial organizations that operate on blockchains have to still play by the old rules that govern traditional finance. At the same time, market onlookers are not sure if the regulator is actually right.\nIn a way, it is a tour de force where the regulator wins every time it has a way to take enforcement action, but these new organizations potentially have a very real way to make enforcement impossible — or at the very least impractical. The only protection against enforcement by the SEC and other regulators is decentralization and the only reason why the SEC was able to act in this case is that a centralized organization such as Blockchain Credit Partners exists.\nWhat's Next:If no company exists and all that there is to a DeFi protocol is a set of smart contracts deployed on a blockchain by a group of anonymous developers scattered around the world there is very little that the SEC can do short of attacking the blockchain itself. This is where the decentralization of the underlying blockchain comes into play: will the regulators for instance be able to force Ethereum's (CRYPTO: ETH) core development team to write an update stopping such a project?\nIf the regulators would actually be able to force the blockchain's developers to write such an update, would node operators and miners or stakers adopt this software or would they refuse to? Such situations will be the real test of the decentralization and reliability of any blockchain that many are waiting to happen. Regulators are seeing power slipping away between their fingers like sand, and they are going to try to grab it.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"COIN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":519,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":177265938,"gmtCreate":1627225535124,"gmtModify":1703485751192,"author":{"id":"3568580098685907","authorId":"3568580098685907","name":"2020TS","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/11248151fdcb83034da72e0a80b4d0ae","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3568580098685907","idStr":"3568580098685907"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"AAL very high in debts.","listText":"AAL very high in debts.","text":"AAL very high in debts.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/177265938","repostId":"1153219140","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":543,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":173590229,"gmtCreate":1626667292361,"gmtModify":1703763015980,"author":{"id":"3568580098685907","authorId":"3568580098685907","name":"2020TS","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/11248151fdcb83034da72e0a80b4d0ae","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3568580098685907","idStr":"3568580098685907"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Correction is on the card.","listText":"Correction is on the card.","text":"Correction is on the card.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/173590229","repostId":"1131628595","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1131628595","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626665643,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1131628595?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-07-19 11:34","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Investors are very scared even with stocks near record highs","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1131628595","media":"CNN","summary":"New York The Dow and S&P 500 are both up about 15% in 2021 and are each about a percent away from their all-time highs. Bogdanova said that \"the market is now entering a transition period\" and instead of \"explosive growth, it will be a two steps forward and one step back\" type of environment.
\n
Inflation concerns and skittishness about how the Federal Reserve will react to headlines about higher prices are likely to stick around too. Growth is expected to dip somewhat next year, but analysts are still forecasting a healthy 11% increase in earnings for 2022.
\n
What's more, profits are climbing even as many companies are raising wages to entice people back into the work force.
\n
\"There is room for companies to pay more for labor and not hurt their margins,\" Wyett said. \"We should see continued earnings growth. Bogdanova said that \"the market is now entering a transition period\" and instead of \"explosive growth, it will be a two steps forward and one step back\" type of environment.\nInflation concerns and skittishness about how the Federal Reserve will react to headlines about higher prices are likely to stick around too. But the recent slide in bond yields might actually be an encouraging sign for investors.\nIf the bond market was really that afraid of inflation, yields would be rising instead of falling. Inflation typically leads to much higher interest rates, not the other way around.\nSo it would appear that bond investors agree with Fed chair Jerome Powell, who has repeatedly described the current bout of inflation as \"transitory.\"\n\"The bond market is giving the message that inflation concerns are not permanent,\" said Steve Wyett, chief investment strategist with BOK Financial.\nThere's also the fact that corporate earnings are expected to keep climbing. That bodes well for stocks.\nAccording to FactSet, analysts expect corporate profits to rise 24% from a year ago in the third quarter and increase nearly 19% in the fourth quarter. Growth is expected to dip somewhat next year, but analysts are still forecasting a healthy 11% increase in earnings for 2022.\nWhat's more, profits are climbing even as many companies are raising wages to entice people back into the work force.\n\"There is room for companies to pay more for labor and not hurt their margins,\" Wyett said. \"We should see continued earnings growth. The stage is set to go from a stimulus led recovery to one with private sector expansion.\"","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".IXIC":0.9,".DJI":0.9,".SPX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":612,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
