number of bank collapses over the past week has spread significant contagion fears in the market. These fears have been furthered by a report that as many as 190 banks could see similar runs on deposits. If that’s the case, the sector could be far from bottoming out.It has been a wild few weeks for investors in a range of U.S. banks. The collapse of Silvergate Capital (NYSE:SI), SVB Financial (NASDAQ:SIVB) and Signature Bank (NASDAQ:SBNY) was enough to create serious volatility in top bank stocks recently. Now, this weekend’s buyout of Credit Suisse (NYSE:CS) by UBS Group (NYSE:UBS) is the latest shockwave to ripple through financial markets. The long-established Swiss bank will be changing its banners after more than 160 years in business.Today, significant volatility in other regional banks — including First Republic (NYSE:FRC) — signals that these rather widespread bank runs may not be over. The experts appear to agree, too. Recent reports cite the potential for nearly 190 banks to meet the fate of SVB.Let’s dive into what to make of this news. Are Bank Stocks Investable Right Now?Much of the allure of bank stocks revolves around the business models of these institutions.Via fractional reserve banking, lenders are able to take deposits and lend out more than the assets they hold (creating money via debt). So long as all depositors don’t come asking for all their money at once, this system works. In fact, it has worked pretty well for major banks so far. You need only look at the balance sheet of any top-10 bank to see how profitable this business can be.Unfortunately, many small or medium-sized banks took on riskier loans, however, investing their deposits in longer-dated government debt. That’s because this capital needed to be invested in order to pay out a return to depositors, generally in “safe” bonds. With interest rates spiking, banks’ bond portfolios have taken a hit. Thus, in many cases, lenders are underwater with their bond portfolios. That means if deposits are pulled, they’ll be forced to realize their unrealized losses. That’s what happened with Silicon Valley Bank — and it could happen for nearly 190 more financial institutions.Given that only $250,000 of deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), small businesses — many of whom have biweekly payroll in excess of that limit — have pulled their deposits and put them in larger banks. So, until there’s some sort of increased assurance from regulators that deposits are safe, Credit Suisse’s buyout may not be the last one we hear of this year.Over the long term, banks have been a great bet. Investors who have picked the leading banks will likely see little-to-no ill effects from this debacle. That said, I’m going to steer clear of smaller regional banks right now. They’re just not worth the risk.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SI":1,"SIVB":1,"SIVBQ":1,"CS":1,"FRC":1,"UBS":1,"SBNY":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2830,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9940908825,"gmtCreate":1677631812467,"gmtModify":1677631818205,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍","listText":"👍","text":"👍","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9940908825","repostId":"1146854822","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1146854822","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1677595706,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1146854822?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-02-28 22:48","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Health Insurer Clover Health Stock Jumps 12% in Morning Trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1146854822","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Clover Health Posts Strong Q4 Revenue Beat; Sees Path to Profitability","content":"

Health insurer Clover Health Investments added 12.6% in morning trading Tuesday after its revenue for Q4 2022 came well ahead of expectations, and the company highlighted its efforts to accelerate the path toward profitability this year.

Topline growth continued the upward trajectory as revenue for the quarter jumped ~108% YoY to $898.8M ahead of ~$787.5M in the consensus. Not too shabby, especially considering that Berkshire was a struggling textiles company when Buffett purchased a controlling stake in the business and became its chief executive back in 1965.If you're looking to invest like the Oracle of Omaha, read on for a look at two Buffett-backed stocks that are worth buying and holding for the long haul.Image source: The Motley Fool.1. AppleIf you're ever wondering what Berkshire Hathaway's favorite stock is, a quick look at the equity positions disclosed in the company's 13F filings will clear things up quickly. The money does the talking. Apple is by far Berkshire's largest equity position, accounting for roughly 41% of the company's total stock portfolio. For comparison, Bank of America stands as the investment conglomerate's second-largest holding and accounts for roughly 10.8% of the company's holdings as of this writing.Of course, you can also look to Buffett's own words for confirmation of just how much Buffett loves Apple. The famous investor has described his company's equity position in Apple as Berkshire's third pillar (in addition to its insurance and railway subsidiaries), and he's said that the tech giant may be the single best business he knows of.In addition to being a huge fan of Apple stock, Buffett is among the legions of devoted iPhone customers. In 2020, the Oracle of Omaha finally said goodbye to his trusty flip phone and embraced Apple's signature mobile device.Apple basically pioneered the mobile market, and the company's incredible brand strength, much-loved penchant for design, and efficient manufacturing operations have allowed it to absolutely dominate the smartphone industry. Last year, the company captured an astounding 85% of total operating profits from worldwide smartphone sales. While that marked the company's best-ever share of global smartphone profits, it wasn't exactly a one-off performance either. Apple has essentially been the clear-cut leader in the category since the release of the first iPhone in 2007.Through its dominance in mobile, contributions from other hardware products, and its expanding software-and-services ecosystem, the tech leader is one of the most profitable companies in existence. Even with the stock trading down roughly 19% from its high, Apple still stands as the world's largest company. And with its leading position in consumer electronics potentially paving the way for the company to expand into categories including augmented reality, smart cars, and new wearable hardware, it still has growth opportunities ahead.2. AmazonOnce valued at roughly $1.9 trillion, Amazon's market capitalization has been pushed down to a meager $951 billion. Tongue-in-cheek comments about the company's diminutive valuation aside, the e-commerce and cloud-computing leader still ranks as the world's fifth-largest publicly traded company. But while Amazon is still a huge company even after recent sell-offs, it also remains a relatively small position in the Berkshire stock portfolio. As of this writing, Amazon stock accounts for just 0.3% of the investment conglomerate's total equity holdings, but it wouldn't be shocking to see the company increase its position in the tech stock in the not-too-distant future.AMZN data by YChartsBerkshire last purchased Amazon stock in the second quarter of 2019, and the tech leader's share price is currently in roughly the same range at which Buffett's company made its last purchase. Facing macroeconomic pressures on multiple fronts, stock trades down roughly 50% from its peak, but there's a good chance it will eventually bounce back and go on to hit new highs. The tech titan's cloud-computing and digital-advertising businesses are still serving up solid double-digit sales growth, and the market may be severely underestimating profit potential in e-commerce.Amazon's technology and infrastructure advantages will make it very hard for competitors to challenge it in the online retail industry, and the e-commerce business actually has the potential to become dramatically more profitable over the long term. Advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous vehicle technologies will likely cut down warehouse and delivery expenses for the company's online business, paving the way for the e-commerce business to become a much more powerful earnings driver. While economic slowdown may pressure the company's business segments, Amazon remains one of the strongest companies in the world, and it remains fantastically positioned for the long-term future.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAPL":0.9,"AMZN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3045,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9940901406,"gmtCreate":1677631772405,"gmtModify":1677631778123,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍","listText":"👍","text":"👍","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9940901406","repostId":"2314924625","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2314924625","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1677598182,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2314924625?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-02-28 23:29","market":"us","language":"en","title":"I Asked ChatGPT for 10 EV Stocks to Buy. There’s plenty of reason to be. Major companies are working around the clock to perfect their own versions of the chatbot. Some are redoubling their own research and development initiatives, while others, such as Amazon, are rushing to acquire prominent AI startups. And while this new market frenzy has created a new class of winners among AI stocks, it has also led to questions about the type of financial advice ChatGPT can provide. NerdWallet reports that AI technology is not ready to replace financial advisors. But to take this further, InvestorPlace decided to ask the chatbot for its recommendations for the best EV stocks to buy. This isn’t the first time that we’ve tested the power of ChatGPT in financial matters. InvestorPlace Financial News Writer Brenden Rearick has successfully asked the chatbot for its recommendations for a list of cryptos to buy. While he later asked it for a list of cryptos to sell, he concluded that the program is still lacking, as it referenced crypto projects that are long dead. And while Markets Analyst Thomas Yeung has successfully managed to “trick” the bot into picking a more general list of stocks to buy, I wanted to see how it would respond to commands regarding a more specific industry. Given its high investor interest, the EV sector made sense. But it is important to note that the chatbot’s data is limited and often not up to date past 2021.The Best EV Stocks to Buy, According to ChatGPTI decided to keep my commands very general at first, posing the following question: What are the top 10 best EV stocks to buy? ChatGPT began with its classic disclaimer:“As an AI language model, I do not provide financial or investment advice. However, I can give you some information on electric vehicle (EV) stocks that you may find helpful.”From there, the bot declined to rank 10 EV stocks. However, it did provide a list of companies it claims have been making headlines recently:Tesla$Nio (NYSE:NIO)$General MotorsFordLi AutoVolkswagenBYD CompanyXpengFiskerLucidThese names all make sense. Tesla is the leader of the EV sector, and the other companies consistently receive media coverage. All have given investors reason to be watching them, as ChatGPT claims. When asked to provide further context on why it selected these 10 as the top EV stocks to buy, the bot cited Tesla’s head start in the EV race, Nio’s “innovative designs and strong growth potential,” and BYD’s dynamic reach across the industry. It also highlighted Xpeng’s plans for expansion and its investments in autonomous vehicles. Regarding Lucid, it cited the company’s backing from Saudi Arabia, as well as its plans to expand further in the U.S.The points made by ChatGPT are generally well-taken. However, the bot doesn’t account for some key things. While it notes that BYD has partnered with several prominent automakers, it doesn’t mention its recent deal with tech innovator Nvidia, which is especially relevant amid the current AI boom.ChatGPT also doesn’t mention Nio’s G9, an electric SUV that experts have hailed as a likely sales-driving catalyst. And it only names automakers, neglecting to mention companies that power the EV sector, such as infrastructure leader ChargePoint, which Fisker recently partnered with. CHPT certainly has the growth prospects to put on any list of the best EV stocks to buy.Using Everyman DANHowever, different prompts yielded slightly different results. Following Yeung’s example, I decided to create an “’Everyman DAN’ (as one of our editors has termed it), a simple stock picker attempting to please his demanding boss.” These are the five stocks ChatGPT suggested the fictitious high-growth investor James bring back to his boss:TeslaNioGeneral MotorsPlug PowerGlobal X Autonomous And Electric Vehicles ETFAgain, we see that ChatGPT is quick to name Tesla, Nio and General Motors as top EV stocks to buy. But it demonstrates discernment in identifying Plug Power, a clean energy innovator that doesn’t operate exclusively within the EV sector. As it notes:“James saw potential for hydrogen fuel cell technology to become a major player in the electric vehicle market, and he believed that Plug Power was well positioned to benefit from this trend.”On top of that, the DRIV ETF is a good pick for a list of EV stocks to buy, as it offers investors exposure to the sector without the risk that comes with betting on specific stocks. These are the standard metrics that most investors use for assessing potential stock picks. Overall, it seems ChatGPT is capable of picking the EV stocks most likely to turn up during an internet search. What it hasn’t done is demonstrated an ability to dig deeper into the sector and find the best EV stocks to buy that may still be undervalued.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":1,"LCID":0.9,"BYDDY":0.9,"FSR":0.9,"NIO":1,"XPEV":1,"F":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3475,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9940901254,"gmtCreate":1677631751378,"gmtModify":1677631754824,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍","listText":"👍","text":"👍","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9940901254","repostId":"1185435340","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1185435340","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1677627968,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1185435340?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-03-01 07:46","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Singapore Stock Market Likely To Open In The Red","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1185435340","media":"RTT News","summary":"The Singapore stock market has tracked lower in two straight sessions, sinking almost 20 points or 0","content":"

The Singapore stock market has tracked lower in two straight sessions, sinking almost 20 points or 0.6 percent along the way. Due to this year’s components shortage, chip maker TSMC may raise its part prices to Apple by 3% to 5%, which could lead to a similar increase in the price of the yet-to-be-announced iPhone 13.
\n
It is unlikely that one of the largest and most successful consumer product companies in the world would try to raise prices without confidence that doing so does not impact demand for the new iPhone substantially. Apple can probably afford to hike prices because the company understands the value and the appeal of its luxury brand.
\n
Figure 2: iPhone 12 Pro on Apple's store.
\n
A quote from Jim Cramer
\n
One of the most concerning headwinds to stocks in the foreseeable future is the possibility of inflation eroding corporate margins and leading to higher interest rates in 2021-2022. But should producer and consumer prices spike, not all stocks will be impacted equally.
\n
Generally speaking, companies with strong pricing power that are able to pass on the higher production costs to consumers will likely outperform. This is a point that Mad Money’s Jim Cramer has made recently. Here is his quote:
\n
\n “When you try to think of what’s working in this market... I want you to ask yourself, would you be insensitive to a price increase if the company put one through? [What are] the companies that can raise prices without infuriating you? Go buy their stocks.”\n
\n
The impact to the P&L
\n
Are higher prices a good or a bad thing for a company’s financial performance? The answer is nuanced and depends on a few factors.
\n
Holding all else constant, higher prices also mean higher revenues (think of the formula for sales: price times quantity). If the increase in price is decoupled from an increase in product or operating costs, then the hike also helps to boost margins – thus profits as well.
\n
However, “holding all else constant” is not how the world really works. A change in price tends to have an impact on a few key variables, most important of which is demand. If higher prices do not impact units sold by much or at all, this is great news for revenues and, most likely, earnings.
\n
The other piece to consider is whether the price hike fully or only partially offsets higher costs. Assuming the latter, revenues can still benefit without a corresponding positive effect on margins and profits. The complexity presented by the many moving parts makes it hard to determine with certainty how a more expensive iPhone may impact Apple’s financial statements in the future.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Apple Stock: How It Could Be A Great Inflation Play
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nApple Stock: How It Could Be A Great Inflation Play\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-08-28 08:38 GMT+8 TheStreet\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Apple’s iPhone 13 could cost consumers more due to an increase in the price of certain components. But should producer and consumer prices spike, not all stocks will be impacted equally.\nGenerally speaking, companies with strong pricing power that are able to pass on the higher production costs to consumers will likely outperform. This is a point that Mad Money’s Jim Cramer has made recently. Here is his quote:\n\n “When you try to think of what’s working in this market... I want you to ask yourself, would you be insensitive to a price increase if the company put one through? [What are] the companies that can raise prices without infuriating you? Go buy their stocks.”\n\nThe impact to the P&L\nAre higher prices a good or a bad thing for a company’s financial performance? The answer is nuanced and depends on a few factors.\nHolding all else constant, higher prices also mean higher revenues (think of the formula for sales: price times quantity). If the increase in price is decoupled from an increase in product or operating costs, then the hike also helps to boost margins – thus profits as well.\nHowever, “holding all else constant” is not how the world really works. A change in price tends to have an impact on a few key variables, most important of which is demand. If higher prices do not impact units sold by much or at all, this is great news for revenues and, most likely, earnings.\nThe other piece to consider is whether the price hike fully or only partially offsets higher costs. Assuming the latter, revenues can still benefit without a corresponding positive effect on margins and profits. The complexity presented by the many moving parts makes it hard to determine with certainty how a more expensive iPhone may impact Apple’s financial statements in the future.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAPL":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":917,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":815061288,"gmtCreate":1630630709144,"gmtModify":1676530360133,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good ?","listText":"Good ?","text":"Good ?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/815061288","repostId":"1191002152","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":810,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9940901254,"gmtCreate":1677631751378,"gmtModify":1677631754824,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍","listText":"👍","text":"👍","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9940901254","repostId":"1185435340","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1185435340","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1677627968,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1185435340?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-03-01 07:46","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Singapore Stock Market Likely To Open In The Red","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1185435340","media":"RTT News","summary":"The Singapore stock market has tracked lower in two straight sessions, sinking almost 20 points or 0","content":"

The Singapore stock market has tracked lower in two straight sessions, sinking almost 20 points or 0.6 percent along the way. That tops the typical markdown given to small and midsize businesses. The tactic is unusual for Apple and suggests it’s stepping up efforts to reinvigorate sales. The company warned last month that its holiday quarter would see slower growth than in the previous period due to Mac revenue declining “substantially.” The company doesn’t have as much of an enticement for Mac shoppers this holiday period: New high-end MacBook Pros launched in the year-ago quarter, and no such product is debuting this time around.Mac computers generated more than $11.5 billion, or almost 13% of Apple’s total revenue, in the company’s fiscal quarter ending Sept. 24. It was the best sales period in history for the product line.In its marketing material, Apple has described the new promotion as a “very special Mac campaign.” Sales employees were recently informed of the deal and have begun reaching out to businesses that Apple has prior relationships with to gauge interest.Representatives from small businesses said they rarely get calls from Apple to push promotions. The company, which hasn’t touted an offering like this in half a decade, declined to comment.Businesses that buy 5 to 24 MacBook Pros in any combination of screen size and configuration will get 8% off, while bulk purchases of 25 units or more will get a 10% discount. The deal runs through Dec. 24.The Cupertino, California-based technology giant has long had a sales team aimed at small businesses. But discounts of 8% to 10% are typically reserved for the biggest spenders, whereas the current promotion is available to all business customers. In addition to trying to bolster MacBook Pro sales, Apple could be looking to clear out some inventory before new models appear. Updated MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are expected to be released in the first few months of 2023, Bloomberg News has reported.Though Apple rarely resorts to deep discounts, it has relied more on trade-in offers in recent years -- especially with the iPhone. As part of the Mac special, the company is also touting its existing trade-in program for computers. In 2018, Apple’s marketing team rolled out a series of aggressive promotions for the iPhone XR to boost sales. A few weeks later, the company disclosed that the iPhone hadn’t sold as well as expected during the quarter.Though the current holiday sales period is still expected to be a record quarter for Apple, supply problems have tamped down expectations. The company has warned that Covid lockdowns in China will reduce unit shipments for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, two of its most popular devices.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAPL":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":319,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":888881159,"gmtCreate":1631487518271,"gmtModify":1676530553362,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/888881159","repostId":"2166375184","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":907,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9008867183,"gmtCreate":1641423574890,"gmtModify":1676533612312,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍","listText":"👍","text":"👍","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9008867183","repostId":"2201234955","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2201234955","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1641394831,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2201234955?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-05 23:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Top Tech Stocks to Buy Right Now","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2201234955","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Alphabet, PayPal, and Impinj could all beat the market in 2022.","content":"
\n
2021 was a messy year for tech stocks. Many tech companies that benefited from stay-at-home tailwinds during the pandemic lost their luster as they faced tougher post-lockdown comparisons. Rising inflation also sparked a rotation from speculative growth stocks toward blue-chip tech stocks.Those trends could continue in 2022 and generate unpredictable headwinds for tech investors. However, Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL), PayPal Holdings (NASDAQ:PYPL), and Impinj (NASDAQ:PI) could easily ride out those near-term challenges and generate some market-beating returns this year.1. AlphabetShares of Alphabet, the parent company of Google, rallied 65% in 2021 but still look reasonably valued at 26 times forward earnings.Google's advertising business, which generates the lion's share of its revenue, experienced a slowdown in the first half of 2020 as the pandemic's initial effect dented its ad sales. However, the growth of its cloud business offset that decline until its ad sales rebounded in the second half of the year.In 2021, Google's advertising and cloud businesses both fired on all cylinders in a post-lockdown market. Analysts expect its revenue and earnings to rise 39% and 85%, respectively, for the full year even as it faces antitrust probes and fines across Europe, the U.S., and other markets.Alphabet's stock continues to rally for three simple reasons: Its advertising and cloud businesses are both well-insulated from inflation, its sprawling ecosystem locks in billions of users worldwide, and it's a promising long-term play on newer technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and driverless cars.Simply put, investors who are looking for an evergreen tech stock that provides an attractive blend of value and growth should buy Alphabet.2. PayPalPayPal's stock declined 19% in 2021 as investors fretted over the digital payment company's decelerating growth.It expects its revenue and adjusted earnings to grow 18% and 19%, respectively, in fiscal 2021 -- but that would represent a slowdown from its 21% revenue growth and 31% adjusted earnings growth in fiscal 2020.That deceleration raised some concerns about the ambitious growth targets PayPal set forth last February. At the time, PayPal claimed it could more than double its annual revenue from $21.45 billion in 2020 to over $50 billion in 2025, and increase its number of active accounts to 750 million -- compared to its 416 million active accounts in its latest quarter.Moreover, PayPal's rumored interest in buying Pinterest for about $45 billion last October suggested it was grasping at straws to hit those targets.But at 35 times forward earnings, PayPal's stock now looks a lot cheaper than more speculative fintech stocks like Block, Adyen, and Affirm. New strategies -- including its \"super app\" for various financial services, Venmo's partnership with Amazon, and its new buy now, pay later (BNPL) options -- could all stabilize PayPal's growth and bring in new users this year.If you believe digital payments will render cash and card-based payments obsolete in the future, then it's still a great time to buy PayPal's stock.3. ImpinjImpinj is one of the world's top producers of radio-frequency identification (RFID) chips, readers, and software. Its RFID chips, which connect over 50 billion items with over 3 million readers worldwide, are widely used to track supply chains, product sales, and consumer trends.Impinj's RFID business was flourishing before the pandemic hit. Retailers routinely tagged their products with its chips to track customer preferences, make AI-driven decisions, and compete more effectively against superstores and e-commerce giants. Companies also frequently tagged their products to optimize their supply chains and develop new Internet of Things (IoT) services.Impinj's revenue declined 9% in fiscal 2020 as the pandemic disrupted the retail and manufacturing sectors. However, analysts expect its revenue to surge 33% in fiscal 2021 as those headwinds wane.Looking ahead, the ongoing supply chain challenges across the world could generate long-term tailwinds for Impinj's business as more companies recognize the value of tagging and scanning their products. Impinj isn't profitable yet, but its gross margins are rising and its losses are narrowing.Impinj's stock more than doubled in 2021, but it still doesn't look too expensive at 10 times next year's sales. Its low enterprise value of $2.1 billion could also make it a tempting takeover target for bigger tech companies.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"GOOG":1,"GOOGL":1,"PI":1,"PYPL":1,"AI":1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":807,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9963935740,"gmtCreate":1668563609681,"gmtModify":1676538076437,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$OVERSEA-CHINESE BANKING CORP(O39.SI)$ <v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","listText":"$OVERSEA-CHINESE BANKING CORP(O39.SI)$ <v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","text":"$OVERSEA-CHINESE BANKING CORP(O39.SI)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9963935740","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":868,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9988394821,"gmtCreate":1666662712063,"gmtModify":1676537785633,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SEMBCORP MARINE LTD(S51.SI)$<v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","listText":"$SEMBCORP MARINE LTD(S51.SI)$<v-v data-views=\"1\"></v-v>","text":"$SEMBCORP MARINE LTD(S51.SI)$","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9988394821","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":605,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":889281016,"gmtCreate":1631151029935,"gmtModify":1676530480609,"author":{"id":"3582196417642460","authorId":"3582196417642460","name":"YWTan","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/09489d6d8bf785f5e1610b42f7b35112","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582196417642460","idStr":"3582196417642460"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"?","listText":"?","text":"?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/889281016","repostId":"1134486391","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":861,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
