The Dow, which hit a record high earlier in the day, reversed course and ended down more than 1%.

The selloff was broad, with all S&P sectors ending in the red, and Wall Street's fear gauge, the Cboe Volatility index, closing at its highest level since Dec. 21.

In the minutes from the Fed's Dec. 14-15 policy meeting, central bank policymakers said a "very tight" job market and unabated inflation might require the Fed to raise rates sooner and begin reducing its overall asset holdings as a second brake on the economy.

"Indications that the Fed is very concerned about inflation could quickly create a view that the Fed will aggressively tighten in 2022," said David Carter, chief investment officer at Lenox Wealth Advisors in New York, calling the minutes "more hawkish than expected."

The S&P 500 technology sector fell 3.1% and was the biggest drag on the benchmark index, while the rate-sensitive real estate sector dropped 3.2% in its biggest daily percentage decline since Jan. 4, 2021.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 392.54 points, or 1.07%, to 36,407.11, the S&P 500 lost 92.96 points, or 1.94%, to 4,700.58 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 522.54 points, or 3.34%, to 15,100.17.

Rising interest rates increase borrowing costs for businesses and consumers, and higher rates can depress stock multiples, especially for technology and other growth stocks.

Growth shares have been under pressure from a recent rise in U.S. Treasury yields.

The Russell 2000 index also suffered its biggest one-day drop since Nov. 26, while the S&P 500 financials index fell 1.3%, a day after it registered an all-time closing high.

Policymakers in December agreed to hasten the end of their pandemic-era program of bond purchases, and issued forecasts anticipating three quarter-percentage-point rate increases during 2022. The Fed's benchmark overnight interest rate is currently set near zero.

Early in the day, an ADP National Employment report showed private payrolls increased by 807,000 jobs last month, more than double of what economists polled by Reuters had forecast.

The report comes ahead of the Labor Department's more comprehensive and closely watched nonfarm payrolls data for December on Friday.

Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 4.32-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 4.22-to-1 ratio favored decliners.

The S&P 500 posted 59 new 52-week highs and 1 new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 81 new highs and 307 new lows.

Volume on U.S. exchanges was 12.18 billion shares, compared with the 10.4 billion average for the full session over the last 20 trading days.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Once again, it reflects Cathie Wood's skeptical attitude towards China's \"technology\".\nLetâs look into the lightening of the Ark Funds\n10 stocks are chosen to analyze their share changes. 5 stocks with the largest positions on July 1 (JD, TCEHY, BEKE, PDD, and BIDU) are shown in Figure 1, totaling $1.5 billion, accounting for about 80%. Another 5 stocks are BABA, NIU, HUYA, BYDDY, and BZ, totaling $300 million, accounting for about 20% (Figure 2). Key dates are marked below.\nFigure 1\nFigure 2\nThe Ark Funds cleared all its positions in HUYA on July 13 and 14 (marked in the Figure above). The news of the failed merger between Huya and DouYu was announced on July 12, but the Ark Funds did not substantially lighten up its position on the day, and continued the pace in the past few days. \nAnother marked date is July 26 (Figure 1). The Chinese education stocks plummeted over 50% on Friday, July 23. On that day, few people realized that a chain reaction had occurred, and Chinese stocks listed in Hong Kong would slump in the following week. The Ark Funds failed to realize it, either. On July 26, the Ark Funds had to lighten up its positions. The top 5 largest positions were all reduced by Ark, with Ke Holdings standing in the breach. This reflects Cathie Wood's suspicion of high-growth companies in China.\nThe third marked date is July 28, as shown in Figure 2. In this round of turmoil, the Ark Funds only lightened up its positions in the stocks of BOSS Zhipin (Kanzhun Limited), which is also a company with a relatively small market value. Meanwhile, Cathie Wood is still very insistent on the investments in NIU Technologies.\nIn the past week, the prices of China Concepts Stocks still hovered at a low level, but the Ark Funds no longer lightened up their positions. At present, there are only 7 stocks left. Based on the closing price last Friday, the position is $450 million, which is a 75% decrease compared to that of July 1.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":52,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":891923796,"gmtCreate":1628320190515,"gmtModify":1703505059878,"author":{"id":"3583752155736395","authorId":"3583752155736395","name":"sst9383","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b77b7063d240f294d93107753a3e9b44","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"LIKE pls","listText":"LIKE pls","text":"LIKE pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/891923796","repostId":"1119792130","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":17,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":806910372,"gmtCreate":1627623633596,"gmtModify":1703493584616,"author":{"id":"3583752155736395","authorId":"3583752155736395","name":"sst9383","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b77b7063d240f294d93107753a3e9b44","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"LIKE pls","listText":"LIKE pls","text":"LIKE pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/806910372","repostId":"1183715018","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":14,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":142217262,"gmtCreate":1626152383756,"gmtModify":1703754407877,"author":{"id":"3583752155736395","authorId":"3583752155736395","name":"sst9383","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b77b7063d240f294d93107753a3e9b44","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"LIKE pls","listText":"LIKE pls","text":"LIKE pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":11,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/142217262","repostId":"1101566017","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1101566017","pubTimestamp":1626132937,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1101566017?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-13 07:35","market":"us","language":"en","title":"How earnings season is likely to play out in the coming weeks and its impact on the stock market","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1101566017","media":"cnbc","summary":"The great cyclical rebound is about to get underway with outsized gains expected in the quarterly profits of industrial, consumer discretionary, energy and materials companies.Earnings growth in the second quarter is expected to be a stunning 66%, as companies compare their results to the depressed period last year when the pandemic abruptly shut down the economy, according to Refinitiv data.âIf you listen to what the CFOs are going to say, youâre going to think the earnings are terrible, but if","content":"
\n
The great cyclical rebound is about to get underway with outsized gains expected in the quarterly profits of industrial, consumer discretionary, energy and materials companies.\nEarnings growth in the ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; That compares to shockingly large estimated increases in industrial sector profits of more than 570%, and energy industry profits, up 220%. Earnings for the financial and materials sectors are expected to be up more than 100% each.\nThose huge gains and expected earnings beats should be a positive for some cyclical stocks this quarter. Earnings season kicks off Tuesday with reports fromJPMorgan Chase,Goldman Sachs,andPepsiCo.\nThis earnings season will be the period where the tug of war thatâs been a factor in the stock market, between cyclical and growth trades, is due to play out very clearly in the earnings numbers. Inflationary pressures, negative for tech stock performance, are expected to help boost cyclical earnings growth in the rebound, as companies face rising input costs but also up their prices.\nâI think what youâre going to see is a very unusual kind of contradiction between the data and the narrative,â said Jonathan Golub, chief U.S. equity strategist at Credit Suisse. âWhat companies are going to say is they are facing shortages and rising input costs and other things which are constraints to their success. And then what youâre going to see is massive beats and the biggest portions coming from higher margins. Theyâre not going to try to reconcile it.â\nGolub expects companies to provide detail on rising costs and supply shortages but not as much information on how much they are raising prices or how broadly.\nâIf you listen to what the CFOs are going to say, youâre going to think the earnings are terrible, but if you look at the results, theyâre going to be magnificent,â he said.\nBut ultimately, itâs tech and growth that will prove to be the best performers profit-wise over the long haul. âTheir own earnings revisions for themselves are still good. Theyâre not deteriorating. Theyâre solid. Theyâre not getting worse. Theyâre not accelerating in this ridiculous way. Theyâre on the same solid trajectory theyâve been on,â said Brian Rauscher, Fundstrat head of global portfolio strategy.\nRauscher expects the trend to revert back to tech as the better earnings performer in two quarters from now, when cyclical airline stocks or industrial stocks like Caterpillar will see earnings growth back in the single digits. âTech will keep growing at 25%,â he said.\nHe says economic growth will have slowed to a more normalized and sustained pace. By then it will be more apparent whether inflation is temporary or not.\nâIf they are unable to pass along price increases, it will hit the earnings,â he said.\nGolub points out that tech profits in last yearâs second quarter actually increased by 3.3% from 2019, as cyclical earnings plunged 85% in the same period. The 2021 second quarter earnings growth estimate for tech is 34.2%, while some cyclical earnings will rebound by more than 570% just to get back to even with 2019.\nâIt says one of these is a near term trade, and one of them is a long term trade,â said Golub. âOnce the supply chain issues are gone, [cyclicals] are going to be unimpressive.â\nEven with the push pull of tech and growth versus cyclical trades, strategists say the earning season should be good for the stock market.\nâI think the numbers will be very good, and itâll be supportive for markets,â said Rauscher. He said some investors may be concerned that a peak period of earnings this quarter will lead to a market decline but he doesnât expect that to be the case.\nâObviously, the numbers are going to be outsized because we have that weird comparison from last year. I think the important thing is going to be the return of guidance,â Rauscher said. Both he and Golub say they expect earnings to beat to the upside.\nâI think the analysts have underestimated the improvement in operating leverage,â Rauscher said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":28,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":127989861,"gmtCreate":1624814809453,"gmtModify":1703845486295,"author":{"id":"3583752155736395","authorId":"3583752155736395","name":"sst9383","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b77b7063d240f294d93107753a3e9b44","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"LIKE pls","listText":"LIKE pls","text":"LIKE pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/127989861","repostId":"2146090006","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2146090006","pubTimestamp":1624755315,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2146090006?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-27 08:55","market":"us","language":"en","title":"5 Buffett Stocks to Buy Hand Over Fist for the Second Half of 2021","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2146090006","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These growth and value stocks are begging to be bought by investors.","content":"
When Warren Buffett buys or sells a stock, Wall Street and retail investors tend to pay very close attention. That's because the Oracle of Omaha's track record is virtually unsurpassed. Since taking the reins of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B) in the mid-1960s, Buffett's company has averaged an annual return of 20%. This works out to an aggregate gain of greater than 2,800,000% for its Class A shares.
\n
Although Buffett isn't perfect, he and his investing team have a knack for identifying attractively valued businesses that have clear competitive advantages. As we prepare to move into the second half of 2021, the following five Buffett stocks stand out as those that should be bought hand over fist.
\n
Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Image source: The Motley Fool.
\n
Amazon
\n
Even though Buffett's investing lieutenants, Todd Combs and Ted Weschler, are the architects behind Berkshire Hathaway's stake in Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), it's arguably the Buffett stock that should be bought most aggressively ahead of the second half of the year.
\n
As most folks probably know, Amazon is an e-commerce juggernaut. Based on an April report from eMarketer, the company effectively controls $0.40 of every $1 spent online in the United States. It's also pivoted its online retail popularity into signing up more than 200 million people to its Prime program worldwide. The fees Amazon collects from Prime help it to undercut its competition on price. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Prime members tend to spend many multiples more than non-Prime shoppers during the course of the year.
\n
But it's the company's cloud infrastructure service, Amazon Web Services (AWS), that has truly budded into a star. Since the operating margins associated with cloud infrastructure are considerably higher than what Amazon nets from retail and advertising, AWS' growth is leading to a surge in operating cash flow. If investors were to continue to pay the midpoint of Amazon's operating cash flow multiple over the past decade, it could hit $10,000 a share by 2025.
\n
\n
Bristol Myers Squibb
\n
Pharmaceutical stocks are money machines, and none looks to be more attractive on a valuation basis than Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY).
\n
One reason to be excited about this drug developer is its organic growth potential. Eliquis, which was co-developed with Pfizer, has blossomed into the world's leading oral anticoagulant, with sales expected to surpass $10 billion in 2021. Meanwhile, dozens of additional clinical trials are underway for cancer immunotherapy Opdivo, which generated $7 billion in sales last year. This offers plenty of opportunity to expand Opdivo's label and pump up its pricing power.
\n
Another reason Bristol Myers Squibb is such an intriguing stock is its November 2019 acquisition of cancer and immunology company Celgene. Buying Celgene brought the blockbuster multiple-myeloma drug Revlimid into the fold. Revlimid has sustainably grown its annual sales by a double-digit percentage for more than a decade, with label expansion, longer duration of use, and pricing power all playing a role. This key treatment, which topped $12 billion in sales last year, is protected from a full onslaught of generic competition until early 2026. That means Bristol Myers will be rolling in the dough for another five years, at minimum.
\n
\n
Mastercard
\n
Everyone seems to be looking for the smartest recovery play from the pandemic. Payment processor Mastercard (NYSE:MA) might well be the safest way to take advantage of a steady uptick in consumer and enterprise spending.
\n
Mastercard isn't a cheap stock by any means -- at 36 times Wall Street's forward-year earnings consensus -- but it benefits from a simple numbers game. While economic contractions and recessions are inevitable, these periods of turbulence tend to be short-lived. By comparison, economic expansions often last many years. Buying into Mastercard allows investors to take full advantage of these long periods of economic expansion and robust spending. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Mastercard has the second-highest share of credit-card network purchase volume in the U.S., the leading market for consumption.
\n
Investors can also sleep easy with the understanding that Mastercard strictly sticks to payment facilitation. Even though some of its peers also lend, and are therefore able to generate interest income and fees during bull markets, Mastercard has avoided becoming a lender. It's something you'll truly appreciate when a recession strikes. Whereas most financial stocks will be forced to set aside capital to cover credit or loan delinquencies, Mastercard won't have to. This is a big reason it bounces back from recessions quicker than most financial stocks.
\n
\n
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries
\n
If you have an appetite for turnaround plays, brand-name and generic-drug developer Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (NYSE:TEVA) is the stock to buy hand over fist for the second half of 2021. Like Amazon, it's a stock that was added to Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio by either Combs or Weschler and not Buffett.
\n
While there's no denying that Teva has its fair share of hurdles to overcome, the company's turnaround-focused CEO, Kare Schultz, has been a blessing. Since taking the helm less than four years ago, Schultz has helped shave off more than $10 billion in net debt, and he's overseen the reduction of roughly $3 billion in annual operating expenses. There's more work to do to improve Teva's balance sheet, but the company is very clearly on much firmer ground than it was back in 2016-2017.
\n
Schultz also has the potential to play peacemaker for a number of outstanding lawsuits targeting Teva's role in the opioid crisis. If this litigation can be resolved with minimal cash outlay, Teva's valuation could soar. At just 4 times the company's projected earnings in 2021, Teva is about as cheap as a healthcare stock can get.
\n
\n
Bank of America
\n
Lastly, bank stock Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) has the look of a company that can be confidently bought hand over fist for the second half of 2021.
\n
For much of the past decade, the Federal Reserve has kept interest rates at or near historic lows. That's meant less in the way of interest income for banks. But the latest update from the nation's central bank suggests that interest rates could begin creeping up in 2023, a year earlier than previously forecast. Bank of America is the most interest-sensitive money-center bank. According to its first-quarter investor presentation, BofA would generate $8.3 billion in net interest income on a 100-basis-point shift in the interest rate yield curve. That's because the Oracle of Omaha's track record is virtually unsurpassed. Since taking the reins of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B) in the mid-1960s, Buffett's company has averaged an annual return of 20%. This works out to an aggregate gain of greater than 2,800,000% for its Class A shares.\nAlthough Buffett isn't perfect, he and his investing team have a knack for identifying attractively valued businesses that have clear competitive advantages. As we prepare to move into the second half of 2021, the following five Buffett stocks stand out as those that should be bought hand over fist.\nBerkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Image source: The Motley Fool.\nAmazon\nEven though Buffett's investing lieutenants, Todd Combs and Ted Weschler, are the architects behind Berkshire Hathaway's stake in Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), it's arguably the Buffett stock that should be bought most aggressively ahead of the second half of the year.\nAs most folks probably know, Amazon is an e-commerce juggernaut. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Prime members tend to spend many multiples more than non-Prime shoppers during the course of the year.\nBut it's the company's cloud infrastructure service, Amazon Web Services (AWS), that has truly budded into a star. Since the operating margins associated with cloud infrastructure are considerably higher than what Amazon nets from retail and advertising, AWS' growth is leading to a surge in operating cash flow. If investors were to continue to pay the midpoint of Amazon's operating cash flow multiple over the past decade, it could hit $10,000 a share by 2025.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nBristol Myers Squibb\nPharmaceutical stocks are money machines, and none looks to be more attractive on a valuation basis than Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY).\nOne reason to be excited about this drug developer is its organic growth potential. This offers plenty of opportunity to expand Opdivo's label and pump up its pricing power.\nAnother reason Bristol Myers Squibb is such an intriguing stock is its November 2019 acquisition of cancer and immunology company Celgene. That means Bristol Myers will be rolling in the dough for another five years, at minimum.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nMastercard\nEveryone seems to be looking for the smartest recovery play from the pandemic. Payment processor Mastercard (NYSE:MA) might well be the safest way to take advantage of a steady uptick in consumer and enterprise spending.\nMastercard isn't a cheap stock by any means -- at 36 times Wall Street's forward-year earnings consensus -- but it benefits from a simple numbers game. While economic contractions and recessions are inevitable, these periods of turbulence tend to be short-lived. By comparison, economic expansions often last many years. Buying into Mastercard allows investors to take full advantage of these long periods of economic expansion and robust spending. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Mastercard has the second-highest share of credit-card network purchase volume in the U.S., the leading market for consumption.\nInvestors can also sleep easy with the understanding that Mastercard strictly sticks to payment facilitation. This is a big reason it bounces back from recessions quicker than most financial stocks.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nTeva Pharmaceutical Industries\nIf you have an appetite for turnaround plays, brand-name and generic-drug developer Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (NYSE:TEVA) is the stock to buy hand over fist for the second half of 2021. Like Amazon, it's a stock that was added to Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio by either Combs or Weschler and not Buffett.\nWhile there's no denying that Teva has its fair share of hurdles to overcome, the company's turnaround-focused CEO, Kare Schultz, has been a blessing. Since taking the helm less than four years ago, Schultz has helped shave off more than $10 billion in net debt, and he's overseen the reduction of roughly $3 billion in annual operating expenses. There's more work to do to improve Teva's balance sheet, but the company is very clearly on much firmer ground than it was back in 2016-2017.\nSchultz also has the potential to play peacemaker for a number of outstanding lawsuits targeting Teva's role in the opioid crisis. If this litigation can be resolved with minimal cash outlay, Teva's valuation could soar. At just 4 times the company's projected earnings in 2021, Teva is about as cheap as a healthcare stock can get.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nBank of America\nLastly, bank stock Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) has the look of a company that can be confidently bought hand over fist for the second half of 2021.\nFor much of the past decade, the Federal Reserve has kept interest rates at or near historic lows. Translation: Bank of America's profits should rocket higher beginning in 2023-2024.\nAt the same time, BofA has done an outstanding job of controlling its costs and improving its operating efficiency. Investments in digitization have resulted in higher mobile app and digital banking use, which is allowing the company to consolidate some of its branches. Even with its shares at a 13-year high, Bank of America has plenty left in the tank.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":64,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":818803563,"gmtCreate":1630390813352,"gmtModify":1676530289315,"author":{"id":"3583752155736395","authorId":"3583752155736395","name":"sst9383","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b77b7063d240f294d93107753a3e9b44","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"like pls","listText":"like pls","text":"like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/818803563","repostId":"2163833181","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":132,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":836069655,"gmtCreate":1629438515477,"gmtModify":1676530041550,"author":{"id":"3583752155736395","authorId":"3583752155736395","name":"sst9383","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b77b7063d240f294d93107753a3e9b44","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"like pls","listText":"like pls","text":"like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":10,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/836069655","repostId":"1170527105","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1170527105","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1629438384,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1170527105?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-20 13:46","market":"us","language":"en","title":"We Asked 1,000 Apes Why They Bought Stock Or Options In AMC Entertainment","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1170527105","media":"Benzinga","summary":"This week we asked over 1,000 AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc traders and investors why they bought s","content":"
This week we asked over 1,000 AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc traders and investors why they bought stock oroptionsin the worldâs largest theatre chain.
\n
For the uninitiated, AMC traders and investors often refer to themselves as \"apes.\"
\n
What To Know:Itâs no secret AMC came out swinging in its recent earnings report.
\n
AMC Entertainment shares traded higher on Aug. 9 after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter EPS and sales results. It did not help that Thursday's rate hike talk had followed the technology-laden Nasdaq's 1.7% advance in this week's first three sessions.Even though U.S. Treasury 10-year yields fell on Thursday, investors focused on profit taking, said Sameer Samana, senior global market strategist at Wells Fargo Investment Institute in St. Louis.\"We had a pretty nice rebound in the Nasdaq the last few days, so there might just be some lingering nervousness around rates the Fed and some profit taking, especially ahead of earnings,\" said the strategist.Samana described Brainard's comments as \"a psychological hit to those hoping that there was some dissent to starting rate hikes sooner rather than later.\"Wells Fargo followed Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank in forecasting that the Fed might raise interest rates four times this year.Adding some anxiety for investors, U.S. companies are due to report results on the final quarter of 2021 in the coming weeks with banks JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Wells Fargo set to start the ball rolling on Friday, while big technology companies report next week.Year-over-year earnings growth from S&P 500 companies were expected to be lower in the fourth quarter compared with the first three quarters but still strong at 22.4%, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.Retail investors have also raised their exposure to bank stocks ahead of the earnings announcements, according to Vanda Research's weekly report on retail flows.Delta Air Lines closed up 2% at $41.47 after beating estimates for fourth-quarter earnings. Its chief executive also predicted a swift recovery from turbulence caused by the Omicron coronavirus variant, also helping to lift the S&P 1500 Airlines index 2.6% for the day.Earlier Data showed the producer price index (PPI) rose 0.2% last month after advancing 0.8% in November while in the 12 months through December, the PPI rose 9.7% versus the 9.8% forecast of economists polled by Reuters. The PPI figures come a day after Wall Street indexes cheered consumer inflation numbers that hit a 40-year high but largely met market expectations.Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 1.27-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 2.24-to-1 ratio favored decliners. The S&P 500 posted 44 new 52-week highs and no new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 75 new highs and 360 new lows.On U.S. exchanges 10.43 billion shares changed hands compared with the 10.39 billion average over the last 20 sessions.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":4,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":185233633,"gmtCreate":1623651303922,"gmtModify":1704207853653,"author":{"id":"3583752155736395","authorId":"3583752155736395","name":"sst9383","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b77b7063d240f294d93107753a3e9b44","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":1},"themes":[],"htmlText":"comment pls","listText":"comment pls","text":"comment pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/185233633","repostId":"1105297799","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105297799","pubTimestamp":1623626792,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1105297799?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-14 07:26","market":"us","language":"en","title":"A Meme Stock Is Born: How to Spot the Next Reddit Favorite","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105297799","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Heavily shorted shares are a common theme among the group.
