all successful investors are loners because they often have to do things differently from the crowd! Vermore once pointed out that a successful speculator must, like a successful businessman, correctly anticipate future demand, purchase goods at the right time, and patiently wait for the moment to make a profit. One must have the desire to become an investment expert.

No matter what you do, you can't succeed without desire. Without desire, you will give up when you encounter small difficulties. Stock market investors might say, \"I have a strong desire; I really want to get rich in the stock market.\" Is that really true?

There are more than 30 million stock market investors in the United States. Wall Street once conducted a survey of ordinary stock market investors, and the results were astonishing: 80% of stock market investors did not enter the market with the primary purpose of making money! Stock trading is a money game, a game played by gentlemen, and the main purpose of investors entering the market is to participate in this game. All your wealthy friends are investing in stocks, and you must become one of them so that you can also become one of the \"successful people\" in everyone's casual conversation.

Everyone has a gambling instinct to some extent, and the stock market provides a place to satisfy that gambling instinct, offering relief from your daily boredom. Ask yourself if you entered the stock market for these reasons as well.

Another question: How many shopping malls did you visit to compare prices for the 2,000 yuan TV you bought? How many materials did you find? How many people have I asked? How much research has been done? Yesterday you spent 20,000 yuan to buy that stock. How much research and information did you do? What percentage of the time you spend buying stocks is the same as buying a television? It must be pointed out:Desire must be based on effort, otherwise it is just a daydream, and a daydream is not desire but a dream.

One must have a spirit of perseverance.

Perseverance is an easy thing to say, but difficult to do. remember former US President Coolidge famously saying, \"The world is full of intelligent but unsuccessful people, well-educated people who often lament that their talents are not recognized... They have one thing in common: they lack the spirit of perseverance.\" What is perseverance? It is the perseverance to endure when one can no longer bear it! Anyone who thinks they can make a name for themselves in the stock market and soar to new heights is definitely dreaming. Even if he's lucky and makes a fortune as soon as he enters the market, the money comes easily, but it's only temporarily lent to him by the stock market. If he doesn't get out of here immediately, the stock market will eventually come back to him.To continuously make money from the stock market, you must have knowledge and experience; you must become an expert.

In my many years of investing in stocks, I have experienced many sleepless nights. My highest record was losing $50,000 in a day. $50,000 is a small amount for a wealthy person, but at the time it was half of my total assets, equivalent to two years' salary for my wife, and much of it was my hard-earned money working as a waiter and washer in a restaurant! I can still feel the numbing pain of that time today, and I couldn't even eat for the next two weeks. The most painful thing isn't the amount of money you lose. Losing money isn't scary; what's scary is not knowing if you'll have the ability to make it back! I kept asking myself: Is this industry right for me?

I know that university takes four years to graduate, and there are times when apprentices graduate in other industries, but where is the graduation period for stock market universities? Working ten hours a day like this, not only will I not get paid today, but I don't know how long I will have to endure the days when I will get paid in the future. Do I have a chance of graduating? I come from a poor family and live a life of earning and eating on the fly. My savings from years of frugality are dwindling day by day. Will I ever make it through this? The thought of giving up is constant. Even if you work as a waiter in a restaurant, you can still earn a few dozen yuan a day. The reader can imagine my despair at that time. Of course, if I had really given up then, the readers would not have seen this book.

Five years have passed, and looking back, I sometimes feel proud of my resilience. I would like to share with readers a quote from Napoleon Hill's immortal book, *Think and Grow Rich*:\"When wealth comes, it comes so quickly and rapidly that one wonders where it has gone in those difficult years.\"\"My life experience proves this statement to be true.\" This statement is similar to Mencius' famous saying, \"When Heaven is about to place a great responsibility on a person, it will first harden his mind, starve his body, and strain his muscles and bones...\"

Success comes too easily; it usually doesn't last. There are too many places in this world for hot-headed people to fall, and you can never guess where. Because if success comes too easily, people often don't know or cherish their blessings, and forget who they are! It's always the darkest before dawn. Only if you can get through this period can you see the light. Please remember: the secret to success is nothing more than \"when you can't take it anymore, just hold on a little longer\".

We must have the spirit of \"endless joy in competing with the market\".

All successful investors have a great interest in the market and how it works, they enjoy the challenges it offers, and they have a strong desire to conquer it.

What attracts them to fight in this market is not money, not fame, not getting rich quick. Money is just their prize after they succeed in playing the stock game. For most people, their purpose in entering the market is to make money, and this expectation makes their probability of success in this industry very low. Because this expectation makes it difficult for them to maintain calm observation, they lack the patience to wait for the inevitable outcome. There's an old Chinese saying: \"The lard has blinded the heart.\" Livermore once pointed out:A successful speculator must be like a successful businessman, accurately foreseeing future demand, purchasing goods at the right time, and patiently waiting for the moment to make a profit.

Be content to be a loner

Almost all successful investors are loners. They must be loners! Because they often have to do things differently from the general public.

Whether they buy low and sell high, or buy high and sell even higher, they must maintain independent thinking. It is extremely dangerous to do things contrary to the mainstream in order to be different. They must have a reasonable explanation for why the public might be wrong, while also foreseeing the consequences of adopting the opposite mindset. This gives them the confidence they need to be different.

From childhood, we know the importance of conformity. Random thoughts, strange ideas, cause you to lose friends and be ridiculed. We have long been accustomed to \"collective thinking\". However, stock trading requires a different way of thinking. If most people in the stock market are optimistic about a particular stock, they have already entered the market according to their abilities. Who else will buy stocks to make the stock market continue to rise higher? Conversely, if most investors are not optimistic about the stock market and have already exited their positions, then the range for further decline in the stock market is not large. If you follow the crowd, you will often enter the market at high points and exit at low points, and you will become a loser.

Of course, it is difficult to measure whether the majority of stock market investors are optimistic about the market or not. You can mainly find the answer by studying \"stock trends\". The emphasis here is on the way of thinking. The likable personality traits you learned from a young age, such as obedience, sociability, and unpretentiousness, all become obstacles to successful stock trading.

Must have patience and self-control

Patience and self-control are things that sound simple but are difficult to do. Stock trading is an extremely tedious and boring job. Readers will laugh at my statement, saying, \"I've traded stocks, and I find them extremely exciting and fun.\" This is because you treat trading stocks as a pastime, not as a serious job. I am a Go enthusiast, and I think Go is very fun. But ask people who play chess for a living, and they'll tell you how tedious and monotonous it is to write notes all day long. The principle is the same. Collecting data every day, judging market trends, and referencing it with your own experience to develop a stock trading plan may be exciting and interesting to do occasionally, but repeating the same work year after year is \"hard work\". If you don't make \"hard work\" a habit, your chances of success in this industry are slim.

Recognize uncertainty. In other words, no matter how smart or knowledgeable you are, the market still cannot be predicted 100% accurately.

Some people take three years to understand this, some take ten years, and some take a lifetime to understand it. But only after understanding this,I've just started to pay more and more attention to the profit-loss ratio, no longer to the win rate, no longer to rack my brains to think about whether tomorrow will rise or fall, and no longer to be worried about gains or losses. I'm just cherishing the position where I opened my position more, gradually learning to sit still, and trading becomes easier and easier. Because I know that it doesn't matter how the market moves. Although the process is full of twists and turns, the final result is to make a profit!

Let me quote Zhang Sanqian here; he's much better than what I said:

Only by recognizing the uncertainty of trends and abandoning the pursuit of certainty can we move on to the next step.

This step is the most difficult and time-consuming. Some people spend their entire careers, some spend more than 20 years without seeing through it, and some rely solely on their own understanding and insight, going through fundamentals, technical aspects, mixed aspects, XXX aspects, etc., and rushing out covered in blood, even though it took 3-5 years. Of course, there are also people who, because of their good environment, are surrounded by mature experts who scoff at certainty, and their own comprehension is not bad, they realize this in a shorter time.

Fate can sometimes be a bit fatal, but I still believe that the foundation of a trader who has emerged naked is incredibly solid. The so-called foundation is not how much theory you have mastered, but how much truth you have actually seen.

This principle is not easy to understand, so let me make a direct comparison:

First, both the win rate and the profit-loss ratio are very important. Being able to judge the right direction and firmly hold onto orders is certainly the best, but you can't have both, so there are two styles: short-term and long-term. Those who trade in the ultra-short term must have a higher win rate (because they do not have the advantage of a profit-loss ratio), while those who trade in the long term have a larger profit-loss ratio. Furthermore, high-win-rate strategies often involve short-term trading. After accumulating large sums of money, it becomes inconvenient to enter and exit the market, which can also affect the results.

However, a style that focuses on winning percentages is less likely to succeed. Because a person can't maintain a high win rate forever, can he predict the future? Therefore, we see that many people who made huge short-term profits in history eventually perished. Other people with high winning rates achieve this by sacrificing high profit-loss ratios, such as making a small profit and running away. Although the win rate is high, you won't make a lot of money.

For those who value high profit and loss ratios, as long as their execution is good enough and their system is not too bad, it will be difficult for them to lose money in the long run. People who make a lot of money are often those who believe in a high profit-loss ratio. However, the requirements for execution are relatively high.

Here is a quote from stock market legend Livermore, which is also a quote from Stanley Crow who made a card and placed it on the table:

Having made and lost millions of dollars on Wall Street, my advice to you is this: I have never made a lot of money through my actions, but always through my inaction. Do you understand?

I will persevere with my patience. There's actually no secret to judging the market direction correctly. You always find that many people are already bullish in the early stages of a bull market. They have the ability to accurately grasp the timing and act correctly, and start buying when the price is exactly where there is potential to generate huge profits. However, their ends are always the same—neither of them ultimately sticks to the right decisions and reaps a truly large enough profit.

People who can both make correct judgments and persevere patiently are extremely rare.

I've found that this is one of the hardest things to learn. However, as a stock trader, you can only make big money if you have a firm grasp of this. It's easier for a trader to make millions of dollars after actually learning how to trade than it is to make hundreds of dollars in his days of cluelessness. ,"news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3700,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9062530421,"gmtCreate":1652075437963,"gmtModify":1676535025088,"author":{"id":"4089632540664290","authorId":"4089632540664290","name":"金莺","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/04a7057c9010d2743d8c4157e8a4abd5","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4089632540664290","authorIdStr":"4089632540664290"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"<a all successful investors are loners because they often have to do things differently from the crowd!

I've found that this is one of the hardest things to learn. However, as a stock trader, you can only make big money if you have a firm grasp of this. It's easier for a trader to make millions of dollars after actually learning how to trade than it is to make hundreds of dollars in his days of cluelessness. It's not difficult for those who know how to do it, and it's absolutely true for those who don't know

","source":"lsy1584353588345","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Night Reading | What is the secret to successful trading?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nNight Reading | What is the secret to successful trading?\n
\n
\n
\n红与绿2022-05-13 21:05\n
\n
\n
\n
\n

Almost all successful investors are loners because they often have to do things differently from the crowd!

\n
\n\n\n
,"news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3700,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9938590245,"gmtCreate":1662626610587,"gmtModify":1676537104285,"author":{"id":"4089632540664290","authorId":"4089632540664290","name":"金莺","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/04a7057c9010d2743d8c4157e8a4abd5","crmLevel":12,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4089632540664290","idStr":"4089632540664290"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"<a
