FIT HON TENG Shares Surge Amid Focus on High-End Photonic Chips and AI Connectivity

Stock News06-15

Shares of FIT HON TENG (06088) experienced a significant intraday surge, rising over 9% at one point. As of the latest update, the stock was up 7.34% to HK$7.9, with a trading volume reaching HK$241 million.

Key Drivers Behind the Rally

The upward movement follows recent policy developments. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued a notification regarding the implementation opinions for innovative development in the "Artificial Intelligence + Information and Communications" sector for the 2026-2028 period. The directive emphasizes strengthening research and development in high-end photonic chips and components. This includes advancing technologies and products such as high-speed photonic chips, high-speed forwarding/switching chips, all-optical switching devices, and photonic-electronic co-packaged devices, alongside conducting trials for photonic-electronic hybrid networking technologies to accelerate the maturity of technical solutions. It also calls for intensified efforts in tackling key technologies for photonic interconnection in intelligent computing super-nodes and the validation of related network technologies and products.

Analyst Perspectives on the AI Shift

Guangfa Securities analysts have noted that the current bottleneck in AI computing power is gradually shifting towards "connectivity." Given the relatively small existing market size for polarization-maintaining fiber, with combined institutional forecasts placing it below $10 billion, there are currently few enterprises focused on its development.

A research report from Guosheng Securities highlighted that the increased deployment of high-speed optical modules is directly fueling a surge in demand for MPO connectors. MPO connectors are standard ancillary components for high-speed optical modules, with the two being highly interdependent in terms of physical connection and technical specifications. As the construction of AI computing infrastructure accelerates, leading to a continuous rise in demand for high-speed optical modules, the demand for MPO connectors, as their core connecting component, is experiencing a simultaneous boom.
