Inner Mongolia Energy Firms Report 36.4 Billion Yuan R&D Investment and 1,856 Patents

On the afternoon of December 3, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Energy Bureau organized a report and exchange event showcasing technological innovation achievements from regional energy enterprises. Nineteen energy companies presented their scientific and technological accomplishments since the 14th Five-Year Plan period, with government, industry, academia, and research institutions gathering to discuss pathways for transforming these innovations into practical applications—boosting the development of Inner Mongolia's new energy system.

The participating enterprises were selected through a voluntary application process open to the entire region, representing diverse market entities—including 12 central state-owned enterprises, 2 regional state-owned enterprises, 2 provincial state-owned enterprises from other regions, and 3 private companies.

During the event, companies shared insights on key areas such as innovation system development, talent cultivation, R&D investment, major scientific achievements, and key innovation projects. Collectively, these 19 firms have invested 36.4 billion yuan in R&D since the 14th Five-Year Plan period, securing 1,856 invention patents and producing groundbreaking technological advancements that fill industry gaps.

Notable breakthroughs include: - **Inner Mongolia Power (Group) Co., Ltd.**'s "Key Technologies for UHV Multi-Terminal HVDC Transmission from Large-Scale Renewable Energy Bases." - **Inner Mongolia Energy Group Co., Ltd.**'s "100MW Hybrid Energy Storage Technology for Grids with High Penetration of Renewable Energy."

Gao Zhengnan, Deputy Director of the Technology Innovation Department at Inner Mongolia Power (Group) Co., Ltd., highlighted the event’s value in fostering knowledge exchange and showcasing industry-leading practices. He emphasized Inner Mongolia’s natural advantages in grid resources and operational scenarios, positioning the region as a pioneer in building a new energy system. The company is currently focusing on three major initiatives: establishing high-level innovation platforms, systematically tackling key technological challenges, and cultivating new productive forces in the power sector.

The event also brought together representatives from regional government agencies, municipal energy authorities, universities, research institutions, and industry associations. This multi-stakeholder collaboration created an efficient platform for showcasing achievements, sharing experiences, and aligning resources—further accelerating the commercialization of energy technology innovations in Inner Mongolia.
