STANCHART trims share count by 4.12 million; outstanding shares fall to 2.22 billion

Bulletin Express04-29

Standard Chartered PLC (STANCHART) cancelled 4.12 million ordinary shares on 28 April 2026, reducing its issued share capital to 2.22 billion shares. The cancellation followed five buyback tranches executed between 20 and 24 April at prices ranging from GBP 17.38 to GBP 18.20 per share, cutting the share base by 0.19% versus the 27 April opening balance.

A further 1.69 million shares—repurchased on 27 and 28 April at an average price of roughly GBP 17.64—remain pending cancellation. Once removed, the total reduction since 20 April would reach 5.81 million shares, equal to 0.26% of the 27 April share count.

On 28 April alone, the bank repurchased 837,549 shares across the London Stock Exchange and the CBOE BXE/CXE platforms for GBP 14.82 million, paying between GBP 17.51 and GBP 17.82 per share.

Since shareholders renewed the buyback authority on 8 May 2025, STANCHART has repurchased 141.66 million shares, representing 5.99% of the shares outstanding at the date of that resolution. All repurchased shares are intended for cancellation.
