Transportation authorities have genuinely prioritized the challenges faced by enterprises, providing comprehensive support from highway transit to coordinating container availability and shipping slots. This has helped us resolve urgent issues and instilled confidence in our subsequent vehicle exports," said Zhang Guoxin, General Manager of the Jingmen Branch of
Great Wall Motor Company Limited (HKG: 2333)
.
In early April, during a "frontline outreach" initiative to promote development, the Jingmen Transportation Bureau in Hubei Province identified a logistics bottleneck for the company's vehicles destined for export to Pakistan. The issues included insufficient container supply, substandard quality of some containers, and tight shipping space. However, the company had a critical deadline to ship 52 batches of Great Wall Motor vehicles in containers by the end of April to ensure timely delivery of overseas orders, a matter crucial for corporate reputation and future cooperation.
Addressing the company's urgency, the Jingmen Transportation Bureau convened a meeting on the same day to outline measures for clearing the bottlenecks and discuss the fastest solutions. A dedicated task force was promptly activated, with members clarifying responsibilities and initiating separate liaison and coordination efforts.
Upon learning of the situation, the Hubei Provincial Department of Transport quickly organized a thematic meeting on April 7. Participants included China Merchants Group, Hubei Port Group, China Hubei Foreign Trade Transportation Co., Ltd., the Jingmen Transportation Bureau, the Jingmen Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, and the Jingmen Branch of Great Wall Motor, jointly finalizing a resolution plan.
To tackle the problems of insufficient container numbers and poor quality, multiple parties including China Merchants Group, Hubei Port Group, and Great Wall Motor's Jingmen Branch collaborated. They applied to international shipping companies for additional container quotas and improved container quality, enhancing the supply structure at the source. Hubei Port Group provided favorable conditions, offering unlimited free container exchanges. Great Wall Motor's Jingmen Branch arranged for technical personnel to conduct on-site container inspections to ensure proper selection, thereby resolving the issue of increased costs due to substandard container conditions.
Regarding the shortage of shipping space, the involved parties coordinated to optimize the allocation of existing flight capacity, combining scheduled departures with temporary additional services. Simultaneously, Hubei Port Group actively coordinated with shipping alliances to provide more options.
During the specific implementation phase, the Jingmen Transportation Bureau assigned a dedicated team to assist all parties throughout the process, facilitating connections and communication. It also coordinated with highway management departments to provide attentive services during the transport of Great Wall Motor vehicles from Jingmen to Wuhan, ensuring safe and efficient transit.
On April 10, the first 8 batches of Jingmen-produced Great Wall Motor containers successfully departed from the Yangluo Port area of Wuhan Port. By April 28, all 52 batches of containers had been shipped. On May 13, Great Wall Motor's Jingmen Branch received positive feedback from its client: "The first batch of vehicles from April has been received. We are confident in entrusting our orders to you."
