On August 28, at the 2026 interim results conference of China Construction Bank, Vice President Ji Zhihong stated that in 2026, despite facing a low market interest rate growth environment and narrowing credit spreads, the bank's bond investment business has maintained a broadly stable and positive trajectory. The bank proactively adapted to shifts in social financing structures and evolving client needs, integrating investment trading with customer services, which has led to continuously enhanced profitability and a reinforced operational foundation across the institution.
Firstly, the bank has strengthened bond investment allocation to support the real economy. By leveraging government bond investments to solidify a foundation of safe, liquid, and profitable assets, the group's new government bond investments exceeded 1 trillion yuan in the first half of the year. Additionally, it has steadily increased credit bond allocations, with a strategic focus on sectors such as advanced manufacturing, technological innovation, green and low-carbon industries, and elderly care. Notably, investments in technology innovation have achieved substantial growth.
Secondly, the bank has enhanced active portfolio management to capitalize on market trading opportunities. It emphasizes refined management of bond portfolios, adhering to an operational strategy centered on coupon income as the base and trading as a value enhancer. By focusing on variety, duration, and issuance products, the bank strives to uncover investment value.
Thirdly, the bank has deeply integrated bond underwriting, investment, market-making, and trading operations into its comprehensive financial services for corporate, institutional, and interbank clients. In the first half of the year, the scale of new Panda bond investments grew nearly twofold year-on-year.
