Quantum technology is a vital engine for fostering new quality productive forces. The selection of two entrepreneurs as representatives underscores the formidable strength of Chengdu's quantum information industry. As a hub for quantum technology innovation and development in western China, Chengdu has solidified a robust foundation for its quantum technology industrial growth. It has established an innovation system centered on "universities + laboratory innovation platforms + research institutes," creating a synergistic innovation pattern of "four-chain integration" that provides comprehensive support for technological breakthroughs and industrial application.
Comprehensive Coverage Across Four Core Areas
The newly announced list is highly prestigious. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Quantum Information Standardization Technical Committee (MIIT/TC10) is the core national organization responsible for coordinating standardization work in the quantum information industry. Academician Xue Qikun from Southern University of Science and Technology serves as the chairperson, with the secretariat established at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. The committee covers four core areas: fundamental commonalities, quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum precision measurement. It is fully authorized to develop, revise, and promote the implementation of industry standards. The inaugural 62 members bring together top academicians, experts from national-level research institutes, and representatives from leading technology companies, forming a national-level standard-setting platform that fosters collaboration between industry, academia, research, and application. This body will unify technical specifications, testing methods, and interface protocols for quantum devices, addressing key bottlenecks for large-scale industrial development.
As a core component of the new generation of information technology, quantum technology is at a critical juncture of global scientific innovation and industrial transformation. The "2025 Global Quantum Computing Industry Development Outlook" report indicates the global quantum computing industry size is projected to surge from $5.037 billion in 2024 to $219.978 billion by 2030. Major global economies have elevated quantum technology to a national strategic level. As a leading quantum hub in western China, Chengdu boasts a deep industrial foundation and continuously prominent competitiveness. In terms of industrial infrastructure and enterprise cultivation, Chengdu, relying on seven quantum industry clusters, implements a "targeted introduction and cultivation" strategy, forming a full-chain cultivation system encompassing "attracting leading enterprises, nurturing local companies, and incubating high-growth startups." Regarding core technology R&D and application scenarios, Chengdu has already broken through multiple "bottleneck" technologies in the quantum industry chain, with "quantum+" demonstration applications becoming increasingly extensive and practical.
Tianao Electronics: A National Leader in Quantum Precision Measurement
What makes these two Chengdu companies stand out? Chengdu Tianao Electronics Co., Ltd. was established in January 2004 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on September 3, 2018. The company is engaged in the R&D, design, production, and sales of time-frequency products and BeiDou satellite application products. It possesses a National Enterprise Technology Center and is a high-tech enterprise with multiple patents and core technologies. As a leading domestic time-frequency enterprise, it has a complete product line and system integration capabilities, offering comprehensive time-frequency solutions to clients. Its main products include atomic clocks, crystal devices, frequency components and equipment, time-frequency boards and modules, and time synchronization equipment and systems. These are primarily used in aerospace, satellite navigation, military and civilian communications, and national defense equipment, providing essential time-frequency equipment and systems for major national projects like China's manned spaceflight, lunar exploration, and the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, making significant contributions. The company's BeiDou satellite application products mainly include BeiDou satellite watches and BeiDou emergency warning communication terminals and systems. The BeiDou satellite watch is an excellent integration of satellite navigation and traditional watchmaking technology, honored as one of "CCTV's Top Ten Global Cutting-Edge Technologies of 2012." The emergency warning communication terminals and systems based on BeiDou short message are mainly used in fields like disaster prevention and mitigation, ensuring timely and reliable information transmission.
At the "Tianfu Jiuzhang, Quantum Rhythms" Black Tech Blockbuster New Year Launch Event held this February, Chengdu Tianao Electronics Co., Ltd. unveiled a series of atomic clock products that redefine time precision based on quantum mechanics principles. These products have broken foreign monopolies and achieved internationally leading levels, having been applied on a large scale in domestic timing systems. The company holds a market share exceeding 70% in the quantum precision measurement field, firmly ranking first nationally.
Zhongwei Daxin: Unveils New-Generation CSMC Chip-Scale Molecular Clock Engineering Prototype
Chengdu Zhongwei Daxin Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in May 2017. It is a high-tech enterprise focused on the R&D of quantum computing measurement and control technologies and quantum measurement technologies. The company has gathered dozens of scientists and engineers graduated from prestigious institutions like MIT, Tsinghua University, Peking University, University of Science and Technology of China, and Fudan University, including one national-level talent and two provincial-level top talents. Its chief scientist was selected in the MIT Technology Review's "Innovators Under 35" list.
Recently, at the 2026 IEEE Symposium on VLSI Technology and Circuits, Zhongwei Daxin unveiled its new-generation CSMC chip-scale molecular clock engineering prototype, showcasing its latest R&D achievements through a special report and physical prototype demonstration. This achievement represents a collaborative breakthrough in two core metrics: long-term stability and short-term precision, marking a critical step forward for domestic high-end on-chip time-frequency technology and injecting new technical support into Chengdu's quantum technology development.
On July 4th, an official post from Zhongwei Daxin stated that this selection represents high recognition from the MIIT and industry authorities for the company's technological accumulation and industrial practice achievements in quantum computing measurement and control and quantum precision measurement. As a representative domestic enterprise in quantum computing measurement and control systems and core chips for the quantum-supercomputing-intelligence sector, the company will leverage its frontline industrial perspective to deeply participate in the full-chain standardization discussions, project initiation, and drafting work for quantum information. It aims to integrate its years of experience in innovative technology, product commercialization, and scenario application into the national-level industry standard system. The post noted that Geng Hua had previously been elected as a standing committee member of the Quantum Computing Professional Committee of the China Computer Federation. This latest appointment to the MIIT's national standardization committee grants a dual identity across both academic organizations and top-level industrial standard platforms, fully affirming the company's benchmark status in domestic quantum-related fields. Moving forward, the company will utilize the national platform of the standardization committee to deeply collaborate with universities, research institutes, and industry leaders to jointly advance the construction of the quantum information technology standard system. Simultaneously, it will continue to deepen R&D in quantum core system hardware, software, and chips, supporting the standardized, scaled, and independent development of the domestic quantum information industry.
