Gansu has officially kicked off the 2026 certification application process for specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises.
Specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative SMEs serve as key market players in cultivating new quality productive forces and stabilizing industrial and supply chains. On October 20, it was learned from the Gansu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology that, in order to further identify high-quality SMEs in specialized niche fields across the province and promote the high-quality development of SMEs throughout Gansu, the province has fully launched the 2026 certification application work for specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative SMEs.
Applicant enterprises must be registered in Gansu Province, possess independent legal person status, and meet the classification standards for SMEs. Enterprises must not be included in the list of businesses with abnormal operations or the list of seriously dishonest entities. Their main products or services must not fall under categories prohibited, restricted or eliminated by the state. In the past three years, they must not have experienced major safety incidents (including cybersecurity and data security), quality issues, environmental pollution accidents, or illegal and non-compliant acts such as tax evasion. At the same time, applicant enterprises must hold a valid designation as an innovative SME or a technology-based SME. Those applying as technology-based SMEs must provide certification documents issued by the science and technology authorities. This year's SME specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative development evaluation score must reach 50 points or above, and the enterprise must have been operating in a specific niche market for more than three years as of the end of the previous year.
