Urban renewal in Tai'an has significantly improved living conditions, enhanced safety, and elevated the quality of life for residents. **Pipeline Upgrades Mitigate Risks** At the Lingzhi Community on Longtan Road, workers from Tai'an Taishan Ganghua Gas Co., Ltd. are replacing aging gas pipelines with new ones. The project, which began in August, is nearing completion and will benefit 704 households by eliminating risks associated with outdated infrastructure. "The upgraded pipelines use advanced materials and technology to ensure durability, and we will establish long-term maintenance mechanisms for safer gas usage," said Liu Qingxin, Deputy Director of the Gas Department at the Public Utility Service Center. This year, Tai'an has upgraded approximately 98 kilometers of hazardous gas pipelines across 198 communities.
**Urban Village Transformation** The Canziyu Village urban renewal project, recognized as an innovative case in Shandong Province, has brought dramatic improvements to residents' lives. "Moving into new homes has completely changed our living standards," said Fan Keran, a villager. The project, launched in July 2019, involved 344 households and 988 residents. Today, the village boasts modern housing, a commercial street spanning over 15,000 square meters, and a new kindergarten, all contributing to collective income growth. Li Zhen, Deputy Director of the Urban Construction Department in Taishan District, highlighted how the renewal addressed previous issues like cramped housing, poor drainage, and unsafe roads. Since the 14th Five-Year Plan, Taishan District has invested 13.3 billion yuan in urban village renewal, benefiting over 5,000 households.
**District Heating Project Benefits Thousands** As the heating season approaches, the Laiwu-to-Tai'an (Lai-Re-Ru-Tai) heating project is in its final testing phase. The project, featuring 24 large heat exchangers, will efficiently transfer heat from 120°C water in Laiwu’s long-distance pipelines to Tai'an’s urban system. Zhang Hongwei, Engineering Director of Tai'an Taishan Urban Heating Co., Ltd., explained that the system ensures stable operation by isolating pressure differences between networks. With an initial heating capacity of 5–10 million square meters, the 51-kilometer pipeline will eventually meet Tai'an’s heating demands until 2035. This cross-regional initiative also supports ecological conservation and industrial waste heat utilization along the Yellow River Basin.
