Shares of James Hardie Industries PLC (JHX) soared 7.61% in the latest trading session, driven by stronger-than-expected fiscal first-quarter results and an upward revision to its full-year outlook.
The building products company reported Q1 FY27 adjusted earnings of $0.36 per share, handily beating the analyst consensus estimate of $0.32. Revenue surged 64% year-over-year to $1.475 billion, also exceeding expectations of $1.395 billion. The strong performance was powered by double-digit sell-through in Siding & Trim, near double-digit growth in Deck, Rail & Accessories, and double-digit revenue expansion in both Europe and Australia & New Zealand segments.
Adding to the positive momentum, James Hardie raised its full-year FY27 guidance, now targeting net sales of $5.564 billion to $5.723 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $1.536 billion to $1.625 billion. The company also unveiled an expanded nationwide distribution partnership with Boise Cascade, which will now carry James Hardie's full exterior building products portfolio. Analysts at RBC Capital Markets and Citi reacted favorably, with Citi noting "visible momentum in primary demand growth and revenue synergies."
