US and Israel May Strike Iran Again After Midterms, Targeting Energy Infrastructure and Nuclear Sites as Dozens of Israeli Warplanes Approach Iranian Border

Deep News10-22

On October 21 local time, according to a report citing US officials and other informed sources, US and Israeli militaries have already drawn up specific plans for launching another military strike on Iran after the US midterm elections conclude.

The report said the two sides are preparing a military operation that would be short in duration but high in intensity. During US Defense Secretary Hegseth's visit to Israel this week, he discussed plans for a new round of military strikes on Iran with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

The report said the targets of the new round of strikes may include Iran's energy infrastructure, nuclear facilities, as well as missile and drone weapons depots. Some US officials believe that launching another large-scale military operation could further damage Iran's economy and force Iran to make concessions in diplomatic negotiations. Currently, the United States has not officially announced the implementation of such military action.

Israel Allegedly Simulated a Strike on Iran; US Officials Say It May Be Meant to Provoke Iran into Firing

According to a report by Israel's Channel 12 television on the 21st, dozens of Israeli fighter jets and aerial refueling aircraft flew over Syrian and Iraqi airspace earlier this week, approached the Iranian border, and then turned back.

The report, citing two senior US officials, said the operation took place from the night of the 19th to the early morning of the 20th, and that Israeli warplanes flew in formations and along routes similar to those that would be used in a strike on Iran.

The report said Israel notified the United States in advance of the operation and described it as an exercise aimed at deterring Iran and demonstrating the Israeli military's capabilities. US officials believe Israel may have been trying to induce Iran's air defense system to fire at Israeli warplanes, thereby obtaining a pretext for launching a military strike on Iran. Israeli officials have not yet commented on the matter.

On the 19th, the US news website Axios reported, citing informed sources, that US Defense Secretary Hegseth visited Israel that day and met with Prime Minister Netanyahu. Currently, tensions between Israel and Iran continue to escalate, with only 6 days remaining until Israel holds parliamentary elections on October 27. Earlier on the 21st, Netanyahu said that only by overthrowing the Iranian regime can the so-called threat posed by Iran to Israel be completely eliminated.
