Beijing's "New" Focus Drives Rapid Deployment of Future Industries

Deep News04:52

Beijing is strategically centering its development plans around the concept of "new," leveraging Party building to consolidate innovation efforts and empower industrial upgrades. Cutting-edge future industries such as humanoid robots, commercial aerospace, and general artificial intelligence are accelerating their implementation, marking the capital's progress in achieving technological self-reliance.

Recently, the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center and Digua Robotics announced new advancements in their industrial collaboration. Their jointly developed full-size general-purpose humanoid robot, "Tiangang 3.0," is scheduled to commence scaled mass production and delivery in the second half of 2026, further amplifying the advantages of industrial agglomeration.

Breakthroughs continue in the commercial aerospace sector. The reusable Zhuque-3 Yao-2 launch vehicle developed by LandSpace successfully completed a static fire test at the Dongfeng Commercial Aerospace Innovation Test Zone, demonstrating Beijing's formidable capabilities in this field.

The frequent emergence of benchmark projects and substantial achievements serves as a vivid reflection of Beijing's high-quality development in future industries. A series of cutting-edge projects, including humanoid robots, 6G, and commercial aerospace, are transitioning from laboratories to scaled production. The continuous implementation and growth of advanced technologies, innovative applications, and industrial ecosystems highlight how Beijing is tackling challenges with a "new" mindset and precise planning, propelling its future industries forward with innovative speed.

"Over the past year, Beijing has produced 21 globally pioneering new technologies and products, such as the open-source 6G integrated sensing, computing, and intelligence test platform and the engineered liquid-hydrogen heavy-duty truck. It ranked second globally in the 2025 Future Industries Development Index. Areas like general artificial intelligence, humanoid robots, and quantum technology are advancing into the world's top tier, with international competitiveness steadily increasing. The city also led the nation with 11 approved Class III AI medical devices and was among the national leaders with 10 innovative medical devices and 6 innovative drugs," stated Li Hui, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.

Industrial data provides direct evidence of this growth momentum. According to figures from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, from January to May 2026, the value-added output of Beijing's large-scale high-tech manufacturing and industrial strategic emerging industries increased by 15.7% and 14% year-on-year, respectively. Production of service robots, industrial robots, wind turbine generators, and new energy vehicles surged by 160%, 80.4%, 58.4%, and 26.2%, respectively.

Behind these impressive industrial results lies the support of policy empowerment and platform development. Since 2025, Beijing has continuously refined its future industry policy system, issuing 22 policies covering areas like brain-computer interfaces, quantum technology, and optoelectronics. Over 50 municipal-level policies have been implemented cumulatively, achieving comprehensive policy coverage for all subdivided future industry sectors at both municipal and district levels.

Concurrently, Beijing has been steadily establishing innovation platforms. Since 2025, five new platforms have been set up, bringing the total number of innovation platforms created at municipal and district levels to 41, opening new avenues for future industry development. Focusing on six core areas—future information, future health, future manufacturing, future energy, future materials, and future space—Beijing plans to implement 122 specific tasks this year.

Party building leadership provides the fundamental political guarantee for optimizing the business environment, offering precise services to enterprises, and safeguarding the high-quality development of future industries. Grassroots Party organizations, acting as policy implementers and business environment creators, serve as a crucial link between the government and enterprises, functioning as a powerful engine empowering industrial development.

In the Yizhuang area, leveraging grassroots service nodes like the "Yiqi Service Port" and guided by Party building, innovative enterprise service models have been established to bridge the "last mile" of corporate services. This integrates Party affairs, government affairs, public services, and business services into a unified system, promoting resource integration along industrial chains and collaboration between upstream and downstream companies, thereby continuously attracting high-end industries, cutting-edge technologies, and top-tier talent.

Zhongguancun Fengtai Park has consolidated a comprehensive service platform, the "Xianfeng Port," which merges Party affairs, government affairs, legal services, business services, and public services. This creates a full lifecycle service matrix for enterprises, ensuring precise policy delivery and efficient response to their needs.

"In the future, we will actively strive to establish and develop national-level future industry pilot zones, effectively connect with strategic scientific and technological forces in Beijing, promote integrated development between central state-owned enterprises, leading companies, and small-to-medium enterprises, and work diligently to complete the entire chain from 'technological breakthrough—scenario validation—industrial implementation,'" added Li Hui.

Beijing continues to deepen the integration of Party building with scientific, technological, and industrial innovation, focusing on overcoming key core technologies and expanding future industry clusters. Through dedicated action, it is writing a new chapter in the era of high-quality development.
