United Airlines to Resume Flights to Venezuela

United Airlines has announced it will restart its flight services to Venezuela. The airline stated on Tuesday that, pending government approvals, it will resume daily direct flights from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Caracas' Simón Bolívar International Airport starting August 11.

United Airlines previously operated flights between the United States and Venezuela for over 20 years before suspending services in June 2017.

This announcement comes just weeks after an American Airlines passenger jet completed the first commercial direct flight between the U.S. and Venezuela since 2019, an event widely seen as a significant milestone in the Trump administration's accelerated efforts to normalize relations with Venezuela.

Earlier this year, following actions against Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, the Trump administration introduced special cooperation mechanisms aimed at attracting U.S. investors to Venezuela while strengthening intergovernmental ties.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy commented that United Airlines' new route represents another step forward in U.S.-Venezuela relations. He stated, "As cooperation expands in oil production capacity and creates new economic opportunities, this route will play a crucial role in facilitating travel for oil industry professionals to and from Venezuela."
