On the morning of September 13, a strategic cooperation signing ceremony was held between the Daming County People's Government and Shenzhen BGI Group. County Party Secretary Wang Shichen and County Mayor Li Shuang attended the event alongside BGI Group Chairman Wang Jian, engaging in discussions about future collaboration.
Before the ceremony, Wang Jian and his delegation visited the peanut cultivation base in Sun Gandian Township to inspect the 10,000-mu demonstration field showcasing BGI's microbial inoculant for peanut disease resistance and yield enhancement. Since sowing in May this year, the field has employed scientific applications of BGI's microbial inoculant products, integrating a green pest control model combining soil testing, ecological assessment, and biological prevention. The actual per-mu yield increased by 10.81% compared to the control field.
The delegation also toured Hebei Qinnong Seed Industry Co., Ltd. and the Future Food Industrial Park, gaining insights into Daming County's agricultural development and supporting industries. During the ceremony, Wang Shichen extended warm congratulations on behalf of the county committee and government, highlighting Daming's reputation as a major agricultural and grain-producing county, often called the "Granary of Southern Hebei." Known as the "Capital of Chinese Flour," the "Hometown of Chinese Peanuts," and the "Hometown of Chinese Small-Grind Sesame Oil," the county boasts abundant resources in peanuts, garlic, yams, and vegetables, supported by a solid industrial foundation. The county is actively developing distinctive agricultural industries, expanding scale, strengthening leading enterprises, cultivating unique features, and building brands in pursuit of transformation from a major agricultural county to a strong agricultural county.
Wang Jian provided a detailed overview of BGI Group's development history, corporate philosophy, and professional strengths. He emphasized the group's commitment to leveraging its technological and platform advantages in agricultural collaboration, building on Daming's resource endowment and existing achievements such as the peanut demonstration project, while exploring broader cooperation opportunities across additional sectors. County Standing Committee Member and United Front Work Department Director Wang Xinwei presided over the ceremony, with Deputy County Mayor Liu Bing and BGI Vientiane General Manager Liu Huan signing the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective parties.
The event was attended by county leaders Zhang Xuebao and Cao Shan, Hebei Province Peanut System Chief Expert Wang Jin, and representatives from the Agriculture and Rural Bureau, Development and Reform Bureau, Development Zone, relevant county departments, township officials, affiliated enterprises, and large-scale peanut growers.
