Recently, numerous consumers have observed that a wide array of food and beverage products have quietly switched from cane sugar to high-fructose corn syrup. At the same time, consumers have pointed out that compared to cane sugar, high-fructose corn syrup may block or inhibit calcium absorption.
In response to these concerns, inquiries were directed to several major companies, including Nongfu Spring, Wahaha, Tingyi, and Coca-Cola, but none have provided a definitive reply. When questioned about the health implications of "high-fructose corn syrup," the official customer service representative for Coca-Cola stated: "Consumers can refer to the ingredient list to choose the appropriate product." Meanwhile, the customer service team at Tingyi responded: "We currently do not support replacing high-fructose corn syrup with cane sugar, and there is no version made with cane sugar available."
