To build a better future, one must first understand it. Focusing on strengthening the capabilities of its officials, the forest city of Yichun has introduced a new intellectual initiative. Recently, the "Lindu Forum" launched a series of general education training sessions on artificial intelligence (AI). The inaugural lecture featured a mentor for leading digital intelligence talents from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, who spoke on hot topics such as "AI + Government Services." Officials from municipal, county, township, and enterprise levels listened attentively and took detailed notes. "I used to think AI was confined to laboratories; I didn't realize it was so relevant to our grassroots work," remarked an official from a township.
This training program spans three months and includes 12 sessions, offering specialized guidance on AI business management, large-scale AI model applications, corporate digital-intelligent transformation, and "AI + Government Services." It adopts a hybrid model combining main venues, sub-venues, live streaming, and recorded broadcasts, with weekly sessions connecting all four administrative levels. The goal is clear: comprehensive coverage and extensive outreach.
Why is Yichun prioritizing collective AI training for its officials at this juncture? Since last year, the provincial committee has repeatedly emphasized the implementation of "AI+" initiatives. As a national key ecological functional zone, Yichun is at a critical stage of high-quality transformational development. Developing its "1234" modern ecological industries and fostering new quality productive forces require a corps of officials who understand technology, industry, and future trends. With the accelerating pace of technological change, the gap between officials' competency reserves and industrial development needs is narrowing. Learning AI has shifted from being a bonus to a necessity.
Yichun's municipal committee plenary sessions and standing committee meetings have repeatedly emphasized integrating AI literacy improvement into officials' theoretical study and education training plans. Top leadership has reviewed and approved the scheme, ensuring high-level planning and rigorous implementation. This is not a short-lived campaign but a sustained, regular effort. To date, the city has conducted 71 sessions of tiered and categorized AI general education training. From municipal leaders to township staff, from government agencies to technical colleges, and from healthcare systems to manufacturing enterprises, learning AI is becoming a widespread trend.
Officials in different roles require different AI knowledge. Yichun's approach is tailored and tiered. The high-level "Lindu Forum" reports focus on strategic cognition and decision-making skills for leadership—enabling them to discern trends and set the right direction. Specialized training on "AI + Smart Office and Digital-Intelligent Application in Government Scenarios" enhances digital execution and office efficiency for agency officials—equipping them with practical tools. Yichun Technical College conducts "AI Empowerment Leading Vocational Education Innovation" to boost teachers' AI teaching capabilities—keeping classrooms up-to-date. Yimei District hosts the "Zhi Hui Yi Mei Lecture," while Wucui District offers specialized guidance sessions titled "Zhi Hui Wu Cui · Empowering New Chapters." The Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau discusses "Digital Intelligence Empowering Manufacturing Development," and the Municipal Health Commission organizes practical AI application training for the medical system. Paying attention to, learning, and applying AI is becoming a conscious effort across the city.
Training is not merely about attendance; the key lies in implementation. Yichun has innovatively launched four major intelligent application scenarios: "Digital Civil Servant," "Smart Guidance," "Cultural Tourism Companion," and "Intelligent Business Inquiry." These down-to-earth applications turn AI concepts into practical assistants. A standout example is the 12345 government service hotline. Utilizing DeepSeek's large model technology, the hotline's service efficiency has significantly improved, earning it a spot among "National Innovative Development Case Studies of Government Service Hotlines." When residents call to report issues, responses are faster, categorization is more accurate, and resolution is more effective.
The integration of learning and application is also evident in industrial development. Yichun is planning the construction of an AI large model factory and an AI智慧谷 (AI Wisdom Valley). It is promoting the intelligent transformation, digital upgrade, and network integration of manufacturing enterprises like Jianlong Xigang. By equipping traditional industries with AI capabilities, new quality productive forces are steadily growing across the forest region. Applying knowledge to seize opportunities—a digital-intelligent spring breeze is sweeping through the forest city. This collective learning initiative throughout the spring will accumulate tangible momentum for Yichun's kickoff of the "16th Five-Year Plan" period.
