U.S. Regulators Pause Certain Bank Cybersecurity Exams to Assess Risks Linked to Mythos

Deep News05-20

U.S. regulators have temporarily suspended certain cybersecurity-related examinations for large banks, providing these institutions with additional time to address risks exposed by Anthropic PBC's new Mythos AI model. Informed sources indicate that during a period of testing new technologies by both regulators and banks, the Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency aim to grant banks time to strengthen their systems against cyber threats highlighted by the latest AI models.

Last month, Anthropic stated it would restrict access to Mythos, warning that the system could potentially be exploited to launch cyber attacks. Consequently, the company introduced the "Project Glasswing" initiative, which grants priority access to the technology to a select group of firms, including Apple and JPMorgan Chase, allowing them to test their own cyber defenses.
