Tysan Holdings Highlights Deepened ESG Integration: 44% Cut in Emissions Intensity, New Climate Scenario Analysis and Expanded Waste Recycling

Bulletin Express04-10

Tysan Holdings released its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance report, detailing material progress in carbon reduction, resource efficiency and stakeholder engagement across its 24 Hong Kong construction sites and head office.

Governance & Strategy • The board retains ultimate ESG oversight, supported by an Integrated Management System certified to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 50001. • Ten United Nations Sustainable Development Goals have been mapped to core operations, with climate-related governance aligned to IFRS-S2/TNFD guidance. • First-time climate scenario analysis (IPCC SSP 1-2.6 and SSP 5-8.5; NGFS Net-Zero 2050 and Current Policies) identified seven principal risks and opportunities, driving new adaptation and mitigation actions.

Decarbonisation & Resource Use • Total energy consumption fell 55.9 % to 259,637 GJ, aided by wider solar-powered lighting, “eco-mode” machinery settings and expanded biofuel use. • Despite the lower energy use, reported GHG emissions rose to 146,686 tCO2e (2024: 42,336 tCO2e) after the Group broadened Scope 3 coverage to include purchased goods, capital goods and logistics. Scope 1 & 2 intensity nonetheless plunged 44 % versus the 2023 baseline, advancing toward the 10 % reduction target set for 2030. • Water withdrawal increased 19.1 % to 419,940 m³, reflecting bored-piling activity; 193,252 m³ of wastewater was reused on-site. • A newly installed sludge-dewatering system now cuts sludge volumes by up to 80 %, easing disposal costs and environmental risk.

Waste & Circularity • Construction and demolition material recycled, reused or sent to public fill rose to 1.04 million tonnes (2024: 0.73 million tonnes). • Non-hazardous landfill waste totalled 534 tonnes, while hazardous waste fell to 9.6 tonnes. • All on-site timber purchased carried Forest Stewardship Council certification; 83 % of construction materials were sourced within 800 km of Hong Kong.

Workforce & Safety • Headcount stood at 631 (-13.9 % year-on-year); turnover rate was 24.7 %. • No work-related fatalities were recorded; 16 injury cases led to 1,255 lost days. • Workplace safety culture initiatives included 54 self-initiated localised work suspensions and provision of private medical care for injured employees. • Almost half of employees (47.4 %) received training, averaging 3.1 hours each.

Innovation & Site Management • Building Information Modelling is now deployed on 58 % of projects; hydrogen-powered “Enertainer” generators and inflatable sound barriers are reducing onsite emissions and noise. • A pilot electronic project-management system and battery energy-storage units are planned to bolster operational efficiency and decarbonisation.

Community Investment • Charitable contributions reached HK$107,700, primarily supporting youth development and industry outreach programmes.

Outlook Tysan Holdings targets further cuts in energy, water and landfill waste by 2030, broader adoption of GGBS low-carbon concrete, expanded battery storage and rainwater-reuse systems, and progressive alignment with Hong Kong’s 2050 carbon-neutral roadmap.
