Bulletin Express07-03

Shaanxi Micot Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. (Micot Pharma) has commenced substantive execution of its Phase Ib/II clinical programme for MT1002, an investigational therapy targeting acute ischemic stroke (AIS), following the successful enrolment of the first patient.

\n\nThe trial is structured in two sequential parts. Part 1 is a multicentre study designed to assess the safety, preliminary efficacy and pharmacokinetic profile of MT1002 in AIS patients. Part 2 will advance to a multicentre, randomised, standard-of-care–controlled design, focusing on broader safety and efficacy metrics. The initial patient enrolment announced pertains to Part 1.

\n\nMarket data underscore the therapeutic need: AIS represents approximately 69.60%–72.80% of newly diagnosed strokes in China, according to “Advances in the Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke (2025)”. Pharnexcloud estimates place the Chinese market for acute-phase ischemic stroke therapies consistently above RMB10 billion in recent years, reaching RMB12.90 billion in 2023.

\n\nThe company positions MT1002 as a potential entrant into this sizeable market, with the ongoing clinical study intended to generate key safety and efficacy data to guide further development steps.
