In Shanxi Province, the pass rate for agricultural product monitoring has remained stable above 98% during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, with the number of green and organic agricultural products reaching 2,297, and a cumulative total of 26.71 million mu of high-standard farmland constructed.
This information was shared by Zhang Jiancheng, a first-level inspector of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, during a press conference on advancing quality province construction held by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government Information Office on July 8.
Zhang Jiancheng detailed the progress in enhancing agricultural product quality. In the areas of farmland construction and seed industry improvement, the province has cumulatively built 26.71 million mu of high-standard farmland and preserved over 87,000 crop germplasm resources. Efforts to reduce and increase efficiency in pesticide and fertilizer use have continued, leading to a sustained decrease in chemical pesticide application, with the coverage rate of soil testing and formulated fertilization technology consistently exceeding 90%.
The province has established 485 demonstration sites for full-process mechanization in grain production, facility agriculture, and animal husbandry. Fifteen counties, including Jishan County, have been recognized as national demonstration counties for full-process mechanization in agricultural production. Over the five-year period, pilot service areas supported by central government funds totaled 22.8 million mu.
Regarding standard system development, Shanxi formulated and revised 475 provincial agricultural standards during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, released 160 key promotion standards, and established a comprehensive mechanism covering standard formulation, implementation, and application. A three-tier provincial, municipal, and county-level inspection system has been largely completed, with the comprehensive adoption of a 'certificate + traceability' model, achieving full traceability coverage for green, organic, and geographical indication agricultural products.
Shanxi took the lead nationally in revising local regulations on agricultural product quality and safety while simultaneously advancing grid-based supervision. By the end of 2025, the province had 2,297 green and organic agricultural products, certified 360 'Shenzhen Standard' products, registered 176 geographical indication agricultural products, and recognized 175 national famous, special, excellent, and new agricultural products.
The province has cultivated 12 provincial-level regional public brands and 46 municipal-level brands. Nine brands, including Datong Daylily and Xixian Yulu Xiang Pear, have been selected for the national agricultural brand excellence cultivation plan. A cumulative investment of 258 million yuan has been allocated for county-level brand strengthening projects.
In terms of production and marketing connections, Shanxi collaborated with JD.com to host the 'Organic Dry Farming · Jin Products' Golden Autumn Consumption Season event. It also partnered with platforms like 'Dongfang Zhenxuan' and 'Yu Hui Tongxing' to promote specialty and high-quality agricultural products and organized enterprises to participate in exhibitions such as the China (International) Agricultural Products Trade Fair.
Zhang Jiancheng stated that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Shanxi will deepen the implementation of actions to improve quality and efficiency in specialty agriculture, vigorously develop technological agriculture, green agriculture, quality agriculture, and brand agriculture, aiming to create more high-quality green and organic agricultural products.
