Korea Electric Power (KEPCO) and its subsidiaries have committed to cutting the group's total energy consumption by approximately 5% compared to last year, implementing electricity-saving measures amid the Middle East crisis.
The company stated in a Sunday announcement that this plan forms part of a broader strategy to address potential energy supply disruptions caused by the conflict.
KEPCO and its subsidiaries held an emergency meeting last Friday to discuss measures aimed at safeguarding national energy security.
The company has defined the current situation as an "economic emergency" and assessed the financial impact of the Middle East situation, including issues such as exchange rate fluctuations and rising international fuel prices.
