The State Administration for Market Regulation (State Certification and Accreditation Administration) has recently released and implemented the certification and accreditation industry standard titled "Technical Application Specification for Online Verification of Compulsory Product Certification on E-commerce Platforms." This marks China's first industry standard to regulate the verification of product qualifications for online sales conducted by e-commerce platforms.
This standard is designed to guide and standardize how e-commerce platforms conduct online verification of qualification information, such as Compulsory Product Certification (CCC certification) certificates, for products sold online, including home appliances, toys, consumer electronics, and electrical switches. In recent years, the State Administration for Market Regulation (State Certification and Accreditation Administration) has established a CCC certification certificate online verification and supervision mechanism with major e-commerce platforms such as JD.com, Taotian Group, Douyin, and Kuaishou. Utilizing digital technology, it provides these platforms with free access to online verification data interfaces.
This system enables real-time, "24/7" verification to check whether products sold online have obtained CCC certification and if the certificate status is valid. For products sold without certification or with expired certificates, the e-commerce platforms are required to block and remove the listings. From January to November this year, online verification for CCC-certified products was conducted 310 million times, a 30% increase year-on-year, leading to the blocking and removal of 15.25 million instances of non-certified product information.
Moving forward, the State Administration for Market Regulation (State Certification and Accreditation Administration) will leverage the promotion and implementation of this standard to strengthen integrated online and offline supervision of CCC-certified products. The goal is to advance the establishment of a CCC certification online verification mechanism characterized by "platform accessibility, data reliability, consumer visibility, and product traceability," thereby safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
