Deputy Governor Shinichi Uchida of the Bank of Japan stated at a post-meeting press conference that Governor Kazuo Ueda's hospitalization is expected to be short-term and is therefore unlikely to have a significant impact on the policy-making process.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Uchida noted that Ueda has already conveyed his views through speeches and briefings.
Uchida stated he could not share the views that Governor Ueda submitted to the committee regarding the June meeting.
The Bank of Japan raised its benchmark interest rate to its highest level in 31 years and announced plans to halt the reduction of its bond purchase scale.
