Nikon Corp. Launches Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II Zoom Lens

Nikon Corp. has announced the launch of the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II, a zoom lens that combines fast autofocus speed with lightweight design in its class.

The company unveiled this standard zoom lens compatible with full-frame/FX format mirrorless cameras, covering the focal length range from 24mm wide-angle to 70mm medium telephoto.

As a member of the S-Line*1 Nikkor Z series lenses, the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II features a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout its zoom range. This lens stands out as the only one in its class to incorporate an internal zoom mechanism*2, while also being among the lightest in its category*2 at approximately 675g. The internal zoom design enhances zooming stability and weather resistance, making outdoor shooting more reliable and worry-free.

As Nikon Corp.'s first zoom lens powered by a Smooth Silent Voice Coil Motor (SSVCM)*3, the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II achieves the fastest autofocus speed*4 among Nikon Corp. products, delivering precise and quiet autofocus control. Its autofocus speed is approximately 5 times faster than the existing Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S, with zoom tracking performance improved by about 60%, making it easier to capture decisive moments of fast-moving subjects such as track and field athletes.

Additionally, the lens incorporates large-diameter double-sided aspherical lens elements in the front group, combined with a strategic arrangement of ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and aspherical elements, balancing lightweight design with the high-level image quality characteristic of the S-Line series.
