Lianyungang Port Sets New Record with NEV Exports in First 11 Months of 2024

Deep News12-16

On December 16, a ro-ro vessel carrying 1,786 domestically produced vehicles and construction machinery slowly departed from Lianyungang Port, heading for Thailand, a country participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. In the first 11 months of this year, Lianyungang Port exported 44,800 new energy vehicles (NEVs), setting a historical record and demonstrating the strong competitiveness of "Made in China" in the international market.

At Berth 68 of Lianyungang Port, rows of brand-new domestic vehicles were neatly lined up, while border inspection officers moved among them, conducting checks on the vehicles ready for export. To accommodate the high-efficiency and intensive operations of ro-ro vessels, the border inspection department proactively tracked vessel movements and implemented customized "one-vessel-one-policy" clearance plans. They also provided round-the-clock "7×24-hour" clearance services, streamlining documentation, optimizing approval processes, and reducing processing times to ensure vessels could "dock and work immediately, leave as soon as procedures are completed."

In recent years, as the domestic automotive industry's core competitiveness continues to rise and overseas demand grows, Lianyungang Port has emerged as a crucial hub for vehicle exports along China's eastern coast. To reduce costs for enterprises and facilitate the rapid global expansion of domestic vehicles, the port adopted a "one-enterprise-one-officer" mechanism, offering tailored services such as policy consultations on entry/exit procedures and onboard documentation processing to ensure efficient vessel clearance.

"For our company, time translates directly into profits. The proactive services from Lianyungang Border Inspection Station enable our vessels to enter and leave the port with 'zero delays' and operate with 'zero waiting,' saving an average of two hours per vessel and significantly cutting logistics costs," said Li Hongshen, a ship agent from China Lianyungang Ocean Shipping Agency Co., Ltd.

Statistics show that from January to November this year, Lianyungang Border Inspection Station facilitated the clearance of 235 ro-ro vessels and the export of 44,800 NEVs, marking an 83.06% year-on-year increase.
