China Merchants Shekou Donates 225 AEDs, Leading the Way in Public Welfare

As a leading urban and industrial park developer in China, China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone Holdings Co., Ltd. (CMSK) is committed to being a bearer of better living. To support social development and spread warmth, CMSK, in collaboration with China Merchants Charitable Foundation and Lingshan Charity Foundation, initiated the "Safe Home" public welfare project. The initiative aims to leverage public spaces, community resources, and corporate volunteers to promote the installation of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) in public areas while training volunteers—including employees and residents—in first aid skills. This effort seeks to establish emergency rescue teams and enhance public emergency response capabilities.

On November 29, the "Safe Home · Walk for Love" Shenzhen event was held along the Shenzhen Shekou Prince Bay Coastal Promenade. The charity walk brought together community members to advocate for emergency safety awareness, embodying respect and care for life through action. Attendees included CMSK Deputy General Manager and Chairman of China Merchants Property Operation & Service Co., Ltd. Lü Bin, Lingshan Charity Foundation Project Manager Wang Songxiang, Shenzhen Blue Sky Rescue Team Captain Hu Jie, and CMSK executives Ma Jun and Cui Xiaohang.

In his speech, Lü Bin remarked, "The recent fire in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district has deeply saddened us. We extend our condolences to the affected and hope survivors stay strong while the deceased rest in peace. 'Safety' is our simplest yet most profound aspiration for a better life and aligns with CMSK’s mission. As a 'bearer of better living,' we integrate social responsibility into our growth. Since its launch in 2018, the 'Safe Home' project has evolved beyond charity—it fosters community resilience and neighborly culture."

Over 800 participants gathered at Prince Bay for the 6-kilometer walk, combining fitness with philanthropy. At the starting point, professional instructors demonstrated AED usage, followed by hands-on CPR practice on mannequins—each step reinforcing the value of life. The event also featured fire safety training, covering hazard checks, fire extinguisher use, and evacuation techniques, empowering attendees with self-protection and mutual aid skills.

Families, seniors, and running teams walked along the promenade, bonding over safety discussions and checkpoint activities. CMSK’s mascot "Whale Boy" and popular IP "Nailong" engaged children and parents in interactive safety lessons, making emergency preparedness both fun and educational.

Since 2018, "Safe Home" has expanded AED awareness nationwide. The 2025 Shenzhen edition combined walking, first aid training, AED donations, and fire safety education to strengthen community safety nets. From learning lifesaving skills to adopting healthy habits, "Walk for Love" plants seeds of goodwill—transforming communities into safer, warmer spaces.

To date, the campaign has engaged 2.3 million participants, logged 29.6 billion steps, trained 420 volunteers, and donated 225 AEDs. The accompanying "Walk for Love" mini-game further incentivizes donations: every 1 billion steps triggers an additional AED pledge by December 31, 2025. Moving forward, CMSK will deepen the "Safe Home" ecosystem, uniting more stakeholders to build a resilient, compassionate urban future.
