Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, recently docked two vessels—the 9,000-car carrier H1608 and the 7,000-TEU container ship H1353—marking the completion of its annual target ahead of schedule. This achievement signifies the successful conclusion of the company's 14th Five-Year Plan.

During this period, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding significantly improved its operational performance and capital strength, delivering a total of 114 ships and offshore engineering projects, including China's first domestically built large cruise ship, the "Adora Magic City."

The company implemented an innovative "multi-vessel, same-dock" construction model, enabling simultaneous production of 200,000-ton bulk carriers, 8,600-car carriers, 9,000-car carriers, 114,000-ton product tankers, 158,000-ton crude oil tankers, and 7,000-TEU container ships in a single dock. This approach optimized resource allocation across its three major business segments, improving efficiency and shortening critical production cycles.

In developing the "Adora Magic City," Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding established advanced planning systems, digital collaborative design platforms, material management systems, quality control frameworks, and intelligent thin-plate production lines. These innovations have since been extended to its commercial and offshore engineering sectors, transforming its business operations from parallel lines into an interconnected, supportive structure.

Additionally, the company has expanded its capabilities beyond shipbuilding, fostering industrial chain development by collaborating with upstream and downstream partners to establish a new cruise industry ecosystem. It is also cultivating a dual-circulation supply chain system, integrating domestic and international markets.

Digital transformation has been a key focus, with Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding integrating next-generation IT with advanced manufacturing technologies. The company has restructured its digital platforms for design, production, and management, accelerating the development of its smart shipyard. Numerous digital applications have already been implemented.

Moving forward, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding will continue to prioritize innovation, promoting deeper integration of AI technologies in the shipbuilding industry.
