Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Upgrades Port Functions as New Terminal Officially Opens Foreign Trade Services

Deep News11-13

Amid the bustling Bohai Bay in early winter, vessels come and go while cranes operate at full capacity. Recently, Tianjin Port Xinxing Building Materials Terminal Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Xinxing Building Materials Terminal"), an enterprise under the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, welcomed its first foreign trade vessel, the "HIROI," marking the official launch of its international trade operations.

This year, a series of key measures—including channel expansion, the construction of smart and green terminals, and the approval of the comprehensive bonded zone—have significantly enhanced the port's capabilities and service functions. These developments inject new momentum into the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the construction of the northern shipping hub.

Located in the Gaoshaling Port Area of Tianjin Port Co.,Ltd., Xinxing Building Materials Terminal serves as a critical logistics hub. The terminal spans 680 meters inland, featuring three 70,000-ton general-purpose berths with a 784-meter shoreline and a water depth of -15.3 meters. Equipped with six 25-ton gantry cranes and three 40-ton gantry cranes, the terminal boasts a maximum storage area of 370,000 square meters and a 5,806-square-meter Class C warehouse.

The launch of foreign trade operations is expected to drive exponential growth in the terminal’s business scale, enhancing its breakbulk cargo throughput capacity and operational efficiency. A representative from Xinxing Building Materials Terminal stated that the company will leverage this opportunity to strengthen management, improve loading efficiency, expand route networks, and optimize the business environment.

The smooth docking of the "HIROI" also reflects the broader infrastructure upgrades in the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone. In recent years, the zone has prioritized developing signature industrial chains, such as marine economy and green hydrogen energy. Improved port facilities, a business-friendly environment, and logistical advantages have benefited regional enterprises.

With deeper channels, smarter terminals, and enhanced policy functions, the Free Trade Zone continues to solidify its role as the "maritime gateway" for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, providing robust support for high-quality regional economic growth.
