GAC GROUP's battery subsidiary, Inpai Battery Technology Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the National New Energy Storage Innovation Center, has launched the "Dafang Wuyu" series of 587Ah energy storage cells. Notably, the Qiankun Edition solid-liquid hybrid (semi-solid-state) cell is the industry's first large-format semi-solid-state energy storage cell. Inpai's 6.5GWh solid-liquid hybrid battery mass production line will also be the first to achieve large-scale mass production of such semi-solid-state storage cells.
The newly released "Dafang Wuyu" series includes two core products: the Haohan Edition (liquid) cell and the Qiankun Edition solid-liquid hybrid (semi-solid-state) cell. The Haohan Edition (liquid) is designed for large-scale energy storage applications, while the Qiankun Edition (semi-solid-state/hybrid) is specifically engineered for high-safety scenarios with zero tolerance for risk, such as urban centers, data centers, and chemical industrial parks. Both cell types have passed extreme tests exceeding national standards. The Haohan liquid cell completed a full nail penetration test. The Qiankun semi-solid-state cell demonstrated no smoke, no fire, and no thermal runaway during tests including 10 times the national standard for crush, full cutting, a 200°C hot box (exceeding the national standard by 70°C, achieving full solid-state performance levels), and a 1000-degree fire test. The cell even maintained normal voltage after some of these extreme tests.
Xu Junhai, General Manager of Inpai, stated that the company's total planned production capacity exceeds 60GWh. An 18GWh mass production line has already been built and is achieving stable deliveries. Inpai is the only enterprise in China's lithium battery industry to have received a Level 4 certification for national intelligent manufacturing capability maturity across all sub-domains and criteria, and it has been selected as one of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's first batch of "Excellence-Level Smart Factories."
During the launch event, Inpai held a signing ceremony for a deep cooperation agreement with the National Innovation Center. The company also completed strategic partnership signings with ecosystem partners including Dassault Systèmes, China Construction Sixth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd., and CSI Solar Co., Ltd.
GAC GROUP initiated core research and development for battery system technology in 2011 and has progressively built an integrated full-industry-chain layout spanning from lithium mining to power batteries, energy storage batteries, charging and battery swapping infrastructure, and battery recycling. Deng Lei, a board member of GAC GROUP, indicated that within the energy sector, GAC has established an integrated "photovoltaic-storage-charging-swapping" network and a complete new energy industry chain. The company has transitioned from being merely a user of battery technology to a deep participant and definer of standards. Its proprietary "Magazine Battery" technology has been installed in over 1.3 million vehicles while maintaining a zero spontaneous combustion record. Furthermore, GAC's solid-state battery R&D is positioned in the industry's first tier, having already established its first pilot production line for large-capacity all-solid-state batteries.
