The Jingning apple serves as a vital source of prosperity for local farmers. Tian Jilin, Chairman of Gansu Demei Diyuan Modern Agricultural Group, has dedicated over a decade to the apple industry. Utilizing innovative technologies, he has transformed the loess gullies into modern ecological orchards. Through his steadfast commitment, he has also inspired young people who left the mountainous region to return. In Weirong Town, Jingning County, the intelligent orchard operated by Gansu Demei Diyuan Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd. features a dwarf rootstock, high-density apple base where trees are neatly aligned. An integrated water and fertilizer pipeline system delivers nutrients directly to the roots, enabling the trees to bear fruit in their first year, with yields reaching 8,000 jin per mu. Growing apples successfully is only half the battle; selling them profitably is equally important. To address the price fluctuations that most concern fruit growers, Tian Jilin pioneered the introduction of "insurance + futures" in the province, providing a price floor for the farmers' apples. The company's growth has not overshadowed its commitment to giving back to the community. Over the past ten years, Tian Jilin has contributed a total of 30.22 million yuan to public welfare initiatives, helping more than 3,000 students from impoverished families achieve their dream of a university education. Among those who received assistance, some have already completed their studies and returned home. From a single tree to an entire forest, and from one individual to a collective, what Tian Jilin has planted extends beyond apple trees. He has cultivated the industrial foundation for Jingning's fruit-growing region, provided a reliable livelihood for local residents, and kindled a beacon guiding children back to their hometowns.
