Tesla Motors (TSLA.US), the electric vehicle giant led by Elon Musk, has produced its 4 millionth China-made car at its Shanghai Gigafactory. The milestone vehicle is a long-range Model Y in "Starlight Gold" color, marking another achievement for the automaker's largest production base.

According to Tesla's official Weibo post, "It took less than 14 months to go from 3 million to 4 million units. Over the past six years, the Shanghai Gigafactory has contributed nearly half of Tesla's global EV deliveries."

Recent reports indicate that despite a decline in the automaker's global sales, shipments from Tesla's China factory have risen for the third time this year. Preliminary data from China's Passenger Car Association shows the Shanghai plant delivered 86,700 vehicles in November, a 10% year-on-year increase.
