Hub-integrated hotels and comprehensive vehicle depot development mark Beijing's accelerated station-city integration progress.

At this year's China International Fair for Trade in Services transportation exhibition, a series of Beijing's "station-city integration" demonstration projects were showcased. From high-end hotels built above transportation hubs to comprehensive development of Metro Line 22's Hebei section vehicle depot, transit stations are transforming from purely transportation functions into new urban vitality centers. Future visits to transit stations will offer expanded possibilities and experiences.

Metro Line 22 represents Beijing's first cross-provincial rail transit line, connecting Beijing's Chaoyang and Tongzhou districts through Hebei's Yanjiao to reach Pinggu New Town, spanning a total length of 81.82 kilometers. Above the Hebei section vehicle depot, a comprehensive development combining residential and commercial facilities will be constructed, providing cross-provincial commuters with enhanced lifestyle options.

Chen Boyang, Market Manager of Shanghai Baoye Group Co., Ltd. Beijing Branch, explained: "This project features Line 22's vehicle maintenance depot underground, with commercial development above including residential units and commercial parking. The building area reaches over one million square meters. As a station-city integration project, it offers convenient commuting and travel for residents, driving coordinated development and integration across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region."

In Shijingshan District, the main structure of Pingguoyuan Transportation Hub has been completed. The project consists of north and south sections connected by an overhead corridor spanning Pingguoyuan South Road. The hub integrates subway and bus services internally, with planned upper-level development including apartments, hotels, office buildings, and commercial shopping facilities, establishing a new landmark in western Beijing.

Zhang Xiao, Sales Manager of Pingguoyuan Hub Era, introduced: "This project connects three subway lines - Lines 1 and 6 interchange at the second basement level of the north section, along with approximately 7-8 bus route transfers also underground. Crossing this corridor leads directly to the south section, where the S1 line is located. Upon completion, daily passenger transfer volume will reach approximately 300,000 people, activating the entire Pingguoyuan area's commercial atmosphere with integrated dining, entertainment, and shopping experiences all available within this project. Basic operations will commence early next year."

The Qunfang Transportation Hub, located on Qunfang South Street in the city's subcenter, sits adjacent to Metro Line 7's Qunfang Station. The upper development will feature a high-end hotel, effectively accommodating overflow visitors from Beijing Universal Resort, creating an integrated "transportation + accommodation + cultural tourism" demonstration project.

Chen Qian, Deputy General Manager of Shoufа Group's Gonglian Dingsheng Company, stated: "Qunfang Hub covers 12,000 square meters, connecting with Metro Qunfang Station and planning approximately 10 bus routes to form regional transportation infrastructure. Above the hub, we've developed a five-star Crowne Plaza Hotel with 335 rooms. The rooftop features a garden bar offering panoramic views of Universal Studios' fireworks shows. The hotel is scheduled to officially open in late September. The hotel achieves 'zero-distance' transfers with the subway, requiring only a few hundred meters walk to reach the metro."

Moving forward, Beijing will continue accelerating comprehensive transportation hub construction, exploring comprehensive utilization value of hub area land space, enhancing transportation facilities with additional service functions, enabling deep integration between hubs and cities, and truly realizing transportation-led urban renewal and high-quality development.
