The Thai government is considering implementing higher electricity tariffs specifically for data centers. This information was disclosed by Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee.
The minister, who also serves on the Energy Policy Committee, indicated that the additional revenue collected from data centers would be allocated to subsidize household electricity costs. This funding will be managed separately from regular residential billing.
According to the official, the Energy Regulatory Commission of Thailand is expected to finalize the new pricing framework for data centers as early as the August billing cycle.
