South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT announced a plan on Wednesday to allocate 235.1 billion won (approximately $159 million) for research projects in the semiconductor, display, and battery industries. This initiative aims to secure core technologies in advanced industrial sectors to ensure the nation's long-term growth.
The ministry stated that funding will be provided for 27 projects focused on securing cutting-edge technologies across these three key industries. Of the total, 187 billion won is earmarked for 18 semiconductor-related projects, including the development of next-generation chip packaging technology and advanced automotive chips for software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
Additionally, 13.9 billion won has been allocated for three display projects, while 34.1 billion won is designated for six battery-related initiatives.
The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to announce further details by the end of January, including the application timeline and specific procedures.
