Seyond: Hesai’s Patent Suits Withdrawn After CNIPA Nullifies Disputed Patents

On 18 September 2026 Seyond Holdings Ltd. (Seyond) announced that two patent-infringement cases brought by Hesai Technology Co., Ltd. and its affiliates have been terminated after the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) declared both disputed patents entirely invalid.

The two cases, filed with the Hangzhou Intermediate People’s Court in 2025, involved: 1. Case (2025) Zhe 01 Zhi Min Chu No. 136 concerning patent ZL201810704708.3, titled “Optical Transmission Module, Laser Emission Module, LiDAR System and Vehicle.” 2. Case (2025) Zhe 01 Min Chu No. 3390 concerning patent ZL201821017496.3, titled “LiDAR System.”

CNIPA issued Examination Decision No. 661151 and No. 662417, respectively, ruling each patent invalid in its entirety. Following these decisions, Hesai applied to withdraw both actions on 14 September 2026 and 11 September 2026. The Hangzhou Intermediate People’s Court approved the withdrawals on 15 September 2026 and 18 September 2026, formally concluding the proceedings.

Under China’s Patent Law, a patent declared invalid is deemed to have never existed. Seyond’s board stated that, based on all available information, the resolution of these cases is not expected to have any material adverse impact on the Group’s operations, financial position, or growth prospects. The company will continue to monitor any further developments and comply with disclosure obligations under Hong Kong listing rules.
