The OPEC+ alliance has agreed to implement another modest increase to its collective crude oil production quota for next month. Should the U.S.-Iran peace agreement hold, a greater volume of supply could eventually re-enter the market.
A statement published on the organization's website confirmed that the coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and Russia, reached a consensus during a Sunday video conference to raise the daily output target by 188,000 barrels. The group's next scheduled meeting is set for August 2nd.
This production adjustment aligns with the coalition's established strategy of gradually phasing out the extensive supply cuts implemented several years ago. These incremental increases are steadily accumulating: the decision made on Sunday signifies that, since the onset of the conflict, the alliance has now agreed to boost quotas by a total of 940,000 barrels per day, which equates to nearly 1% of global demand.
