Fibocom Unveils Global LTE Cat.1 bis Module LE271-GL, Enabling Single-SKU IoT Devices for Worldwide Connectivity

On January 7th, Fibocom launched the global version of its LTE Cat.1 bis module, the LE271-GL. This module, leveraging four key advantages—"compact size, global compatibility, low power consumption, and high interoperability"—aims to provide global IoT customers with a cost-effective worldwide 4G connectivity solution, accelerating the global deployment of terminals such as Trackers, IP cameras, new energy devices, and consumer electronics.

The compact design of the LE271-GL, measuring just 17.7mm x 15.8mm, enables a single SKU to achieve comprehensive global frequency band coverage. It is pin-to-pin compatible with Fibocom's own MC661 series, LE270 series, and LE37X series, as well as other products on the market sharing the same package, allowing customers to quickly integrate it without altering their PCB designs. Within its limited footprint, the LE271-GL achieves extensive coverage of mainstream global frequency bands, supporting both FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE, truly realizing the concept of "one chip for global connectivity."

The LE271-GL delivers a comprehensive performance upgrade, featuring enhanced network registration speeds. It outperforms similar platforms, adequately meeting the demands of application scenarios that require extremely high response speeds and stability. The module supports rapid network registration within 3.5 seconds and demonstrates excellent performance in UART AT response and USB enumeration, significantly improving the startup and connection efficiency of terminal devices.

For battery-powered, power-sensitive applications, the LE271-GL has undergone deep optimization in power consumption control. It supports microampere-level sleep current, achieving highly effective low-power management. Furthermore, it supports sleep-wake functions like DRX, and its VDD_EXT and multiple GPIOs remain powered during sleep mode, ensuring that key functions stay online while maintaining extended battery life.

Boasting rich features and strong compatibility, the LE271-GL offers high flexibility in both hardware design and software functionality to facilitate a smooth migration from older solutions. It supports LBS + Wi-Fi Scan-assisted positioning (including overseas and indoor positioning) and features eSIM capability along with single/dual SIM card functionality to meet the needs of scenarios like logistics tracking.

With the advantage of being among the first to achieve mass production, the LE271-GL is leading the globalization of Cat 1 bis modules.
