Citi has released a research report stating that the National Press and Publication Administration has announced the seventh batch of game licenses for this year, issuing a total of 197 licenses. This batch includes 193 domestic games and 4 imported games, marking the largest single-batch approval in the past five years, and surpassing the average approval numbers for the first half of 2026 and the entirety of 2025.

The bank believes that the timing of this license issuance, ahead of the summer peak season and the China International Digital Entertainment Expo (Chinajoy), indicates that regulators continue to support the healthy development of the online gaming industry.

Citi further noted that this approval round benefits various game developers, further consolidating a healthy supply pipeline for the industry. The bank expressed confidence that market leaders such as TENCENT (00700) and NTES-S (09999) can leverage their strong product portfolios and industrial-scale R&D capabilities to drive sustainable and stable growth.
