Chinese brokerage stocks saw widespread gains. At the time of writing, China Galaxy (06881) rose 4.49% to HK$10.94; Everbright Securities (06178) increased 3.4% to HK$9.13; China Merchants Securities (06099) climbed 3.41% to HK$15.15; and CITIC SEC (06030) advanced 3.1% to HK$29.90.

Recent positive performance forecasts from several listed brokerages provided a boost. Data shows that as of January 28th, the 21 brokerages that had disclosed performance forecasts or preliminary results anticipate a combined net profit totaling 107.587 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of nearly 60%.

Shenwan Hongyuan believes that against a backdrop of improved market trading activity and a bottoming recovery in investment banking and public fund asset management businesses, the trend of high profit growth for brokerages in 2025 has been confirmed.

Looking ahead to 2026, wealth management and international business present opportunities for brokerages to leverage their functional roles, while mergers and acquisitions are expected to optimize competitive behavior and enhance resource allocation efficiency. Additionally, client-driven businesses such as derivatives are seen as unlocking further potential for increasing leverage.
