Reddit Sees Robust Q2 Advertising Momentum, Expanding Social Media Budget Share

Recent surveys of advertising agency channels indicate that Reddit continued to expand its share of the social media advertising market in the second quarter, with its digital advertising growth momentum strengthening significantly compared to the first quarter.

The survey notes that agencies attribute Reddit's market share gains to its strong contextual targeting capabilities, high-intent user base, and the incremental reach it can deliver. In the B2B advertising space, LinkedIn is the platform experiencing the most pronounced impact, while Pinterest, Snapchat, and X also face competitive pressure from Reddit.

Currently, advertiser adoption of Reddit's ad products remains concentrated primarily in the middle and upper parts of the marketing funnel, with newer lower-funnel products like dynamic product ads still in early stages. However, Reddit's ongoing investment in automation tools is lowering the barrier to entry for small and medium-sized advertisers. Features like its Max functionality and integration with Shopify have effectively driven increased adoption among small and medium-sized businesses. Furthermore, agencies have expressed high interest in testing Reddit's upcoming search advertising product.

Reddit's strong advertising momentum is already reflected in its financial results. The company's first-quarter revenue grew 69% year-over-year to $663 million, with advertising revenue increasing 74% to $625 million. The number of active advertising clients grew by more than 75% year-over-year. The company's revenue guidance for the second quarter is between $715 million and $725 million, exceeding general market expectations.
