Amplitude Energy Secures Production License for Australia's Offshore Annie Gas Field

Deep News05-07

Oil and gas exploration and development company Amplitude Energy (formerly Cooper Energy) has obtained the VIC/L37 production license for the Annie offshore gas field in Australia's Otway Basin, targeting first gas production by 2028.

The company stated that the Annie gas field, discovered in 2019, is expected to supply natural gas to the domestic market in Eastern Australia.

Amplitude Energy noted, "Given the long investment cycle required, timely approvals and regulatory certainty for oil and gas projects remain critical. All gas produced from the Annie field is anticipated to be supplied to the domestic market on the East Coast for Australian consumers."

The project is part of its broader Otway Basin portfolio, which includes the Casino, Henry, and Netherby offshore gas fields, as well as the onshore Athena gas processing plant located near Port Campbell.

The company indicated that future Otway Basin developments, including Annie, are expected to utilize existing offshore infrastructure and pipelines connected to the Athena gas processing plant. As production from mature gas fields declines, the Annie field is projected to support future gas supply in Southeastern Australia.
