Hang Seng Index Opens 0.23% Higher, Tech Index Rises 0.55%; Gold and Automobile Stocks Gain

Major European stock markets performed well on Friday, while U.S. markets were closed for a holiday. The U.S. dollar remained weak, gold prices continued to rebound from recent lows, and oil prices stabilized.

Hong Kong's three major indices opened higher today. The Hang Seng Index started the session up 0.23% at 23,404.61 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index gained 0.55%, and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 0.21%.

Technology Stocks Mixed

Within the technology sector, performance was mixed at the open. Xiaomi Group shares rose over 1%, while Baidu Inc shares fell more than 1%.

Biotech and Gold Shares Advance

Innovative drug concept stocks opened higher, with Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. shares gaining over 1%. Gold stocks saw broad gains, with Lingbao Gold Group Ltd shares rising more than 1%.

Optical Communications and Automobiles Active

The optical communications sector was active, with Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company shares jumping over 3%. Automobile stocks generally moved higher, with Leapmotor shares climbing more than 2%.
