Japanese and South Korean stock markets both opened in positive territory today. The Nikkei 225 index rose 0.5% to 67,165.40 points.
The South Korean benchmark, the KOSPI index, opened significantly higher, gaining 3.3% to reach a level of 7,486.64 points.
