Deep News12-01

The Jiangsu Taizhou Medical Hi-Tech Zone (Gaogang District) Market Supervision Bureau has intensified its "Consumer Protection" campaign, rigorously enforcing full-chain rectification of e-bike safety hazards. The bureau maintains a strict crackdown on illegal activities, including the production and sale of non-compliant e-bikes under the new national standards, unauthorized modifications, and installations.

**Case 1: Sale of E-Bikes with Forged Quality Certificates** Earlier this year, the bureau inspected a local e-bike retailer in Gaogang District and discovered four e-bikes produced by a Tianjin-based manufacturer. The bikes bore model number TDT2278Z with a manufacturing date of September 2024, while their accompanying product certificates listed model TDT2271Z and a manufacturing date of November 4, 2024. The retailer violated Article 6(6) of the *Jiangsu Regulations on Combating the Production and Sale of Counterfeit and Substandard Goods*. Pursuant to Article 19(5), the bureau ordered the immediate cessation of illegal activities, confiscated the e-bikes, and imposed a fine.

**Case 2: Sale of Non-Compliant E-Bikes** On July 8, 2025, inspectors found an e-bike (model TDR3376Z) with a tampered battery compartment and non-compliant saddle dimensions at a Gaogang District retailer. Testing by a Jiangsu-based inspection firm confirmed violations of GB17761-2018 standards, including pedal capability, saddle length, and anti-tampering requirements. The retailer breached Article 13 of the *Product Quality Law* and was penalized under Article 49, resulting in confiscation of the non-compliant bike and a fine.

**Case 3: Sale of Non-Standard E-Bikes by a Motorcycle Retailer** On July 16, 2025, a motorcycle shop in Gaogang District was found selling eight e-bikes with excessively long saddles, failing GB17761-2018 standards. The retailer violated the *Product Quality Law* and faced penalties, including confiscation and fines.

**Case 4: Illegal Modification of E-Bikes** On September 22, 2025, a Taizhou Medical Hi-Tech Zone retailer was caught selling an e-bike (serial no. 383622557028641) with an extended saddle exceeding GB17761-2018 limits. Investigation revealed the modification was made post-purchase to meet customer demand. The retailer violated Article 12(1)(4) of the *Jiangsu E-Bike Management Regulations* and was fined under Article 36.
