STANCHART Cancels 1.07 Million Shares, Further Buys 0.71 Million Under Ongoing Repurchase Programme

Standard Chartered PLC (STANCHART) filed a Next Day Disclosure Return to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 21 September 2026 detailing fresh reductions in its outstanding equity and continued share buybacks.

The bank cancelled 1.07 million ordinary shares on 18 September 2026, covering repurchases executed between 14–16 September at volume-weighted prices ranging from GBP 22.72 to GBP 23.14. The cancellation trimmed the share count by 0.05 % and lowered total issued shares to 2.18 billion.

Additional market purchases were executed but not yet cancelled: • 356,905 shares bought on 17 September at GBP 23.20 per share • 351,727 shares bought on 18 September at GBP 23.07 per share

The 18 September tranche, totalling 351,727 shares, was executed on the London Stock Exchange, CBOE BXE and CBOE CXE at prices between GBP 22.75 and GBP 23.43, costing GBP 8.11 million.

Since shareholders renewed the buyback authority on 7 May 2026, STANCHART has repurchased 36.10 million shares, equivalent to 1.63 % of the shares outstanding on the mandate date. The company is authorised to purchase up to 221.63 million shares before the authority expires at the 2027 AGM or 6 August 2027, whichever comes first.

All repurchased shares are intended to be cancelled, and no treasury shares were held as at the latest reporting date.
